Michael's EcoFlow Batteries Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Ecoflow has been in the portable battery game for quite a while, and in late 2025 announced it would be offering fixed home battery systems to Australian customers. Being such a new product, we haven't formulated an opinion on these systems as yet. But one of the stand-out aspects is the warranty, which is 15 years.

EcoFlow Batteries: Pros & Cons

  • Very long warranty (15 years)
  • New product; needs time "out in the wild" in Australia.

Ecoflow Home Batteries

At the time of writing, the modular EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus (single-phase) home battery had been approved for use in Australia by the Clean Energy Council, but didn't appear to have reached our shores as yet and there were still some missing details.

It will be available in 5 kWh, 10 kWh and 15 kWh nominal capacity configurations. However, the useable capacity of each is 4.8 kWh, 9.7 kWh and 14.5 kWh respectively.

Features include dynamic tariff support, smart monitoring through EcoFlow web portal and full compatibility with all EcoFlow home energy Ecosystem products.

Maximum discharge power of the EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus is 3.3 kW for a 5 kWh battery, 6.6 kW for 10 kWh and 9.9 kW for a 15 kWh stack.

The battery cells are LFP (lithium-iron phosphate), recognised as one of the safest lithium-ion technologies. Among the EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus's safety features is an integrated active aerosol fire prevention module. The battery can be floor or wall mounted, has an operating temperature range of -20C to 50C assisted by natural/convection cooling and is IP 65 rated for outdoor/indoor installation.

An EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus system can be expanded to 45 kWh capacity, but three stacks of batteries and three Ecoflow hybrid inverters are required. One hybrid inverter can support a maximum of 15kWh.

Warranty Details

The warranty accompanying the EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus is 15 years, or 6000 charge/discharge cycles, whichever comes first. EcoFlow guarantees the PowerOcean Plus batteries will have a minimum nominal capacity of 70% after 15 years of use or 6000 charge/discharge cycles when working with a compatible Ecoflow inverter.
