After paying $500 deposit and providing photos of where battery is to be installed I was informed job would be done in 6 weeks. After 3 months i attempted to contact them about the install and eventually received a call from them to say I hadn't provided enough information so I sent the information as requested again. Another 3 months later with no result in contacting them I approached NSW Dept Fair Trade. 3 weeks later I received a email from Fair Trade to say that the outcome had been resolved as they had contacted me for bank account details for a refund as the battery was no longer avaliable 2 days later they did contact me 2 December, as at today 3 January I have not seen the return of my money. My experience with this company appears to be similar with a lot of other people
Austra Solar also trades as Solar Power Nation

Very disappointing experience with Austra Solar.
Very disappointing experience with Austra Solar.I paid a deposit in June 2025 for a solar installation, but as of October 31, 2025, the system has still not been installed. The company has revised the quotation three times, each time increasing the price instead of honouring the original agreement.
Their communication has been inconsistent, and there’s been no clear timeline or commitment to complete the job. I feel this is unprofessional and misleading — customers should not have to wait months or deal with constant price changes after paying a deposit.
Would not recommend based on my experience.

Avoid Austra Solar and Solar Power Nation at all costs
I made a $300 deposit on a large battery/inverter purchase with Solar Power Nation subsidiary Austra Solar on 30 June 2025. After trying to find Austra Solar's "head office" in Chippendale in early August so that I could have a chat to them about how I wanted to configure the scoped system with my existing battery, I realised that Austra don't have a physical presence, and were a mere sales and marketing outfit - less diplomatically put, a scam factory. I immediately requested a refund on my deposit (payment receipt PA-4142, mentioned here to avoid their bullsh*t default "Dear Customer, We are sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. Unfortunately, we can't trace you as our customer. Please share your quotation or invoice number and we will look into the matter with utmost priority. Regards, SPN Online" response) on 9th August. After no response to multiple emails and they having blocked my mobile number, I went to NSW Fair Trading and commenced action against them.Bizarrely, the same scammer that accepted my deposit actually rang me - after 6-7 emails sent to him demanding a refund - and tried to upsell me on an even larger battery. Their modus operandi of seeking to prey upon customer naivety and greed at deals which don't actually exist (if it seems too good to be true, it is too good to be true) didn't allow this clown to comprehend that I was fair dinkum about coming after them to get my money back.
Anyway - NSW Fair Trading, via the NSW Building Commission, eventually got formal correspondence to Austra Solar. I received an email chain confirming the deposit return and it was returned earlier this week, two months after I first requested it in writing.
The lesson? Talk to friends and family about their experience with good, reputable suppliers/installers. Don't go hunting for the cheapest price online, as those deals either don't exist or the install will be so cheap and crappy that the otherwise decent kit just won't function or perform. If these scammers do have your money, go through the formal channels re: recovery, be persistent and remain patient.
Long delay and non-compliant installation
I signed up with Austra Solar in the first week of July 2025. After numerous follow-ups and hours spent on phone calls, revisions, and broken promises, the solar system and battery were finally installed in the last week of November 2025—though not the same battery I originally signed up for. To their credit, they did upgrade the battery at no extra cost.Since installation, I’ve been chasing them for the compliance certificate. Last week, my power retailer attempted to install a digital meter but couldn’t proceed because, according to them, the solar installation is non-compliant and requires an isolator.
Now, the familiar story: no one answers calls at Austra Solar.
