About i-Energy Corporation

Founded in 2009, Taiwan's i-Energy Corporation specialized in manufacturing microinverters.

Company Info

I-Energy served both residential and commercial markets and was a local pioneer in PV power optimization and conversion devices. The company's CEO was Dr. Steven Huang, who had previous extensive experience in the semiconductor (Nvidea) and solar industry.

When i-Energy shut up shop isn't clear, but the company's website went offline in early 2017. The last post on the company's Facebook page was mid-2015.

I-Energy Microinverters In Australia

I-Energy's main microinverter product was the i-Micro GT260. I-Energy claimed the GT260 could provide 5 to 25% more energy per solar module than string inverters of the time, and that it was the lightest microinverter on the market.

Recommended for use with 240-265 Watt panels, the i-Micro GT260 had maximum output power of 230W. It measured 23.2 x 21.2 x 4.26cm and weighed 2.2 kilograms. The GT260 had an ambient working temperature range of -40C to +65C.

Monitoring was provided via the company's cloud-hosted i-Monitor service, which collected data from the i-Manager data communication device accompanying GT260 installations.

I-Energy had several wholesale distributors in Australia, including AC Solar Warehouse and Solar Juice.

Warranty Details

The i-Micro GT260 was accompanied by a 25 year warranty, which was pretty generous. Unfortunately, a warranty is only good if a firm is still around to honour it and i-Energy isn't. But companies that imported or installed these units in Australia have warranty responsibilities too.
