Sapphire Solar is a Victorian family-based solar installation company that has been operating since around 2007. The firm once offered panels and inverters with Sapphire branding for the home solar market in Australia and the UK, but nowadays only offers other brands.

The company says it began manufacturing panels in 2013 — but we're not aware of the firm owning any production facilities, and certainly not in Australia. Who the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of these panels isn't clear, and the country of origin wasn't noted on any data sheets we've seen.

Sapphire Solar Panels In Australia

Among the Sapphire self-branded panels made available was the GEM SS250P/60, which was a 250W polycrystalline module with a conversion efficiency of up to 15.7% and temperature coefficient of Pmax of -0.42%/C. The SS250P/60 was 1640 x 992 x 35mm and weighed 19.1 kilograms.

GEM polycrystalline solar panels were available in 265 - 280W in 60 cells and 320 - 340Wp in 72 cells. Sapphire also offered GEM full black PERC monocrystalline modules in capacities ranging from 285-300W in 60 cells and 340 - 360W in 72 cells.

Warranty Details

Originally, the product warranty for GEM solar panels was 12 years, but that was boosted to 25 years at some point. The performance warranty was 25 years. If you need to make a warranty claim, try contacting your installer first for the steps before contacting Sapphire.
