Ulica Solar Panel Reviews

2.0 kW PV Array; 8 x 250w Ulica Solar; 1 x Geoprotek GS2000; The Solar Panels are doing great; from high 13 KW a day to low 6 KW a day. I believe it averages 8KW a day. I always take manual notes of inverter and meter reading once or twice a week.

I originally had arranged for the installation of newer style larger German made panels which required a smaller number to be installed. Was then informed they were out of stock, but smaller panels could be installed which would do the same job. The installation was speedily done with the installers informing me, when questioned, that they had broken a a 'couple of tiles' but had replaced them. At 78 years of age I cannot climb onto the roof to check. Everything seemed OK until we had a downpour of rain, which left us with damaged walls and paintwork. Tradesmen had broken large number of tiles and had replaced them with tiles near the gutter which was as bad as if they had left them further up the roof. Although I have spent a large amount of money keeping my trees lopped I feel I am not getting the amount of solar generation I was given to believe would be the case. There has been no follow up from this company about anything - their after sales service is simply non existence although I have left messages with the company on two occasions.

Wouldn't recommend this company at all and I am telling as many people as I can. Not happy with their workmanship and customer service need a real look at as well.

Where can one go to have a system inspected and maintained??

Our system is a 3kW (12x 250W Ulica panels) with a Power-One Aurora PVI3000 inverter. This inverter can accept a further 2 panels (max 3500W). Adding the final two panels will put the system at its capacity and also ensure the inverter is in its peak efficiency band a little more. Which is what I am attempting to do now because it isn't saving us as much as we had expected. Trying to source the extra 2 panels (supply only) from Nicholls is way too painful apart from the fact that sourcing the exact panel is difficult. I already have the rails and would use our electrician who fits out the buildings we build with our current building being 17 units.

Actually when I place the order it's Canadian Solar, but Nicholls groups change it to Ulica Solar.Maybe Ulica Solar is cheaper than Canadian Solar, so they can get more profit.

It maybe the solar panels getting to hot witch shuts down the inverter.
I have black roof tiles this may be why, however you can hardly notice the solar panels, street appeal is good.

The system has been operational since 10 July,2012.rnConsidering the season is mid-winter, but daily with almost full sunshine, the lowest output was 8.33kWh with a maximum of 13.66kWh. Fully overcast days still produced an output of 8.33kWh.rnAt the moment the panels have a shadow cast over, from trees, during the first 3 hours and final 1 hr of the day.rnI will leave these obstacles until the end of summer, taking daily recordings of the readings and evaluate the total production results then. We are actually using less electricity than the panels are producing.

They don't face true north as we didn't have the roof space, so lose about 5-10% efficiency
