Which electricity network are you connected to?
Evoenergy is the main electricity distributor in the ACT and supplies almost all Canberra homes and businesses. Essential Energy services a very small number of ACT customers near the NSW network boundary.
Your DNSP sets the connection and export rules for your solar and battery system, so your installer should confirm the network before finalising the design.
Solar and battery rebates in the ACT
The ACT Government currently offers the following solar and battery support:
- Home Energy Support – eligible concession card holders can receive a rebate of up to 50% of the cost of a rooftop solar system, capped at $2,500, plus an interest-free loan to cover the remaining cost.
- Sustainable Household Scheme – 3% loans from $2,000 to $20,000 are available for eligible home batteries, repayable over up to 10 years. Rooftop solar is not covered by this loan scheme.

Grid connection rules in the ACT
Evoenergy sets the connection rules for most ACT homes, while Essential Energy’s rules apply to the small number connected to its network. Evoenergy limits total inverter capacity per phase (including batteries), and export limits still apply. Your installer should confirm the approved system size and export allowance for your property.
