Fox ESS was established in 2019 and by April the following year had shipped its first products independently developed by the firm. Fox ESS has grown rapidly since, and in May 2023 was added to the Forbes Global Unicorn list. A 'unicorn' is a privately held startup company with a current valuation of US$1 billion or more. 

The firm expanded into Australia in 2021, starting with solar inverters, adding batteries in 2022 and EV chargers in 2024.

The company's global headquarters are located in Wenzhou, China.

A Series

The Fox ESS A Series is available in three power ratings:

• A7300 - 7.3kW single-phase
• A011K - 11kW three-phase
• A022K - 22kW three-phase

The A Series is available in plug and socket versions and can be wall or post mounted. It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, with optional 4G, along with OCPP 1.6 JSON or OCPP 2.0.1.

Other features include scheduled charging, dynamic load balancing and the ability to direct surplus solar power to EV charging. The charger body is IP65 and IK08 rated and has an operating temperature range of -30 ~ 50C.

L MAX Series

The newer L MAX Series is a more compact EV charger available in two models:

• L07P - 7.3kW single-phase
• L11P - 11kW three-phase

Both use a Type 2 charging plug and measure 196 x 197 x 105mm. They can be wall or post mounted and have an operating temperature range of -25 ~ 50C.

The L MAX Series is IP55 and IK08 rated and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. Like the A Series, it supports OCPP 1.6 JSON or OCPP 2.0.1, scheduled charging, dynamic load balancing and charging from surplus solar power.
