Solax Power EV chargers have been available in Australia for a while, but we haven't heard a lot of feedback on them from installers or customers yet. While not absolutely the cheapest device around, the Smart EV Charger G2 is within the budget pricing range and has all the basics, plus advanced features such as solar smart charging and dynamic load balancing.

Solax's history traces back to China's Suntellite Group, which was founded in 2003. But it wasn't until 2012 the Solax Power brand was established. The firm launched its hybrid inverter in 2013, home batteries in 2017/18 and EV chargers in 2022.

The company entered the Australian market in 2014, establishing a physical presence in Victoria.

Solax Smart EV Charger G2

The SolaX Power Smart EV Charger G2 is a 7.4 kW/22 kW device available in 4 models:

  • X1-HAC-4: single phase, 1.4 ~ 4.6 kW
  • X1-HAC-7: single phase, 1.4 ~ 7.2 kW
  • X3-HAC-11: single/three phase: 1.4 ~ 11 kW
  • X3-HAC-22: single/three phase: 1.4 ~ 22 kW

Featuring dual-mode connectivity (Wi-Fi/4G), the Smart EV Charger G2 offers dynamic load balancing and solar compatibility along with remote control and real-time monitoring via the SolaX Cloud App. Automatic switching between phases is available on the three-phase units and the Smart EV Charger G2 has support for the OCPP 1.6j protocol.

Tethered and untethered models are available, with the tethered versions having a 6.5 metre charging cable. The device's operating temperature range is -30~50°C (without screen) and -25~50°C (with screen)

Among its safety features are over/under voltage, overload, short circuit, current leakage, grounding, surge and overtemperature protection.

Warranty

The warranty accompanying the SolaX Smart EV Charger G2 is three years.
