FMD Solar Reviews

A solar company that inspects properly, quotes clearly and installs cleanly.

FMD Solar is a locally owned Cairns solar and battery company.

We install for homes and businesses across Cairns, Port Douglas, Innisfail, Tablelands and Far North Queensland, and we design every system for the conditions here: heat, humidity, salt air and cyclone wind ratings.

The first step is not a brochure. A licensed electrician inspects the property before a price goes out. That visit covers roof condition, mounting points, wind rating, shading, switchboard capacity and how the site actually uses power.

We quote from what we saw, not from a standard kit. That is the difference between a system that looks good on paper and one that fits the building.

From there the design is tailored. Some customers only need solar. Some want the array set up so a battery can be added later. Others want LiFePO? storage from day one for evening use or backup. We also add batteries to existing solar and connect EV chargers and pool and electric hot water equipment so daytime generation does more useful work.

The team has more than 15 years of hands-on solar experience and has completed 500+ installations, residential and commercial. Hardware is chosen for Australian and tropical conditions, and mounting is specified for cyclone-rated work rather than a generic mainland install. Most residential jobs are completed in one to two days, including testing and grid connection.

Support does not end when the system is switched on. Far North Queensland weather is hard on panels, inverters and connections, so we also handle maintenance, performance checks, repairs and professional panel cleaning. If something needs attention later, you are dealing with the same local workshop in Manunda, not a call centre interstate.

FMD Solar is for people who want a clear quote, a system sized to the property, and an electrician who will still be in Cairns after the install.

Inspect properly. Quote clearly. Install cleanly.
