Michael's Flex Inverters Review & Verdict

Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.

Flextronics launched into the Australian PV market with the acquisition of a major local solar retailer in 2016 that it used to promote its products. But Flex declared it was exiting the residential solar sector here in 2018, and took its gear with it.

Flex Inverters: Pros & Cons

  • Flex solar products no longer available in Australia

About Flex

At one point, Flex (aka Flextronics) produced residental solar inverters under its own name.

Company Info

Flex is a huge company headquartered in Singapore and is one of the largest Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the world. Among the gear it manufactured and sold under the Flex brand were solar panels and apparently, inverters. But in terms of local availability, Flex exited the Australian wholesale and retail solar scene in 2018.

Flextronics doesn't just produce solar components under the Flex name. For example, it produces microinverters for Enphase.

Flextronics In Australia

Flextronic's springboard into the Australia solar scene was via purchase of a local solar retailer (which was subsequently sold). One of the Flex inverters that was due to be released here was a 5kW unit, but finding information on it in 2025 proved to be difficult.

Perhaps it never made it to our shores - or anyone else's for that matter. However, the reviews below suggest it did; unless those reviewers have confused it with another brand/model.

Warranty Details

As we can't find any information on this inverter (or confirm if it was even available here), we don't know warranty details - but when exiting Australia Flex said it remained committed to honoring its warranty obligations, and Skybridge became the local designated provider for servicing these warranties

The second inverter works perfectly without failure from installation and I am very satisfied with its performance. Therefore I cannot provide an accurate rating of the Flex inverters in general. I have photos of the inverters and photocopy of the purchase contract. If you send me your email, I can sene you the required documents.
