Michael's Latronics Inverters Review & Verdict
Michael Bloch covers the latest developments in home electrification for SolarQuotes.
Latronics was a pioneering Australian solar inverter manufacturer. The company stopped manufacturing in 2024 and ceased all operations in June 2025. But unlike some other companies that simply disappear without warning, Latronics gave more than 3 years notice of this happening.

Company Info
Latronics was founded by Klaus and Sabine Langner. The company started manufacturing off-grid inverters in 1985, and then expanded into solar inverters for grid-connect systems. The company's products have been used in residential, commercial and industrial installations in dozens of countries around the world.
As Australia's home solar revolution started to kick into gear, so did Latronics. It moved into new (and final) digs at Moffat Beach in 2011, and boosted its staff from 50 to 100. But in May 2022, Latronics announced it would be ceasing manufacturing on 26th June 2024, and closing its operation in Queensland.
Their inverters were made by hand, not robots, in a factory that was 100% solar powered. Just about every part of Latronics inverters was recyclable, from the case down to individual components.
Latronics Inverters For Home Solar
Latronics' solution for grid-connect systems was the PV Edge inverter, available in 1.25kW (PVE 1200) and 2.5kW (PVE 2500) capacities - which indicates just how old these are. While very simple inverters without the bells and buzzers of today's devices, the PV Edge came equipped with an energy meter that allowed users to see power generated and other data such as mains voltage.
PV Edge inverters were compatible with industry standard battery bank voltages for use with grid connected battery backup configurations.
Warranty Information
Older Latronics PV Edge inverters were accompanied by a 5 year warranty, but newer models only 3 years - which wasn't a great vote of confidence from the company in the units.
When announcing the end of operations, Latronics said it would be ceasing all repairs, support, warranties and guarantees on all of its products on 30th June 2025. This works out to 3 years after the announcement it would be shutting up shop; the length of the newer warranty.
If your Latronics inverter is playing up, getting it repaired after the company fully closes may be difficult - it might be time to buy another inverter.

1.2kW has not paid for itself. Latronics want more money to replace inverter, they can not repair. looks like their inverters can not be repaired. they advise to install a refurbished inverter or a new inverter. These inverters are money pits. I would advise to stay away. Also i have to send to Queensland at my cost.

This used up the solar credits we had built up last year.
We contacted Auzion and Latronics and their service was excellent.
Auzion came the next day and took the faulty inverter away and returned with a replacement in half an hour.
Our original inverter was then sent away for repairs and re installed two weeks later.
Both Auzion and Latronics are local Sunshine Coast companies and we were treated with respect at all times.
We are very happy with our after sales service as all our concerns were rectified immediately.
