Miracles do happen, great price an no hidden costs

Waited a calendar month before reviewing, to ensure nothing untoward eventuated and thankfully nothing did.  We've had a variety of up and down summer weather in greater Sydney, from extreme heat, rain, wind, and dull cloudy days.  Sydney's summer should provide the optimum charging conditions and it has been an interesting exercise in understanding how our setup/usage works in real life with some lower than expected UV conditions.  Even on battery exhaustion overnight (10% by default), due to heavy A/C usage a couple of days, our cost for the 24hr period was significantly reduced.  The East/West PV set up is evenly split and excess production was previously being wasted with the poor feed-in return.  Various Subcontractors would be utilised, based on your geographical location, for installations.  Falling within the greater Sydney region, CTY Electrical was organised by VoltX Energy.  The two technicians were excellent, not explicitly named here as I haven't formally requested their consent, but thank you guys.  The installers' choice of APP was Solplanet (rather than VoltX) and it is functioning as designed.  As with any APP, some technical enhancements would be appreciated with one being Dark Mode capability.  Hopefully, with version maturity, the APP will only become better.  There is enough data and information at your fingertips to make it a worthwhile tool.  A greyed out EV Charger showed the ability to add-on.  We are thinking of an EV vehicle, so we are interested in the Solplanet EV Charger to complement this installation (whatever way we go, it will be OCPP compliant), which should be more feature rich with our installation--feelers have gone out for availability and pricing etc.  Add-ons to the base installation offering/quote were an upgrade to a 10kW Inverter, to match our current Inverter, along with 2 circuits backup/blackout (1 power outlet circuit and 1 A/C Split).  A neighbour, who steadfastly dismissed the VoltX Energy offering, has checked out the installation, the APP, and our actual savings a few times ... they have since kicked off their own quotation.

Neovolt 50kW system

Its been a roller-coaster experience but in the end Voltx got there.
Started in June 2025 when i signed up to the FB ad - 30kW system from $5920 (Sydney standard install).
Being in Newcastle i knew that the price would be higher (shipping/transport). I also added the blackout protection for 2 circuits, auto changeover controller and a 3 phase smart meter w/6CTs for the batteries.

Install was set for October but then pushed to Nov due to demand and where I was in the system queue.
Nov didn't happen as they had no installers in the Newcastle area but I did receive a call from the CSD asking how my install went... informed her that none has happened and strange that CSD not aware and please follow up for me. Dec I wouldn't expect anything either and now Voltx was offering 50kW systems.

13th Jan 26 I get sms with a schedule date 15th.
I arrange to have the day off work, then I get a sms on Wed 14th to say there is delays due to installers falling behind and can it be rescheduled to Fri 16th. By now I've lost my patience - taken day off work for this, Fri is no good, not available till following Thurs 22nd or just cancel the order and refund my deposit was my reply. 1 min later a sms reply from Voltx saying they have found another installer and proceed with install tomorrow 9a - 12p.

Thurs 14th - no installers arrived 9a -12p, another sms to whoever I've been communicating with, replied with 1p - 130p.
130p - contractor arrived, not one person but 3 of them in separate vehicles ( 2 x vans 1 ute) they traveled from Sydney they told me.

Install went smoothly from 130 - to 5p. The lead contractor was very help in explaining the system and the changed done in the main switchboard and helping to work out the 2 circuits to be backup in blackout.
The contractors were great, couldn't fault them, even mentioned if I looked after the cardboard instead of them taking to Sydney i can get $50 off the invoice, I took the offer.

Had to get bollards installed as install was under carport, additional cost ($150 each) which I was aware of at the very beginning of signing up - if required pending install location.

Once install was complete lead contractor explained the app, which is simple to use and understand. Even the web base monitoring is easy and provides more details if you like that.

After contractors left and admiring the batteries and reading the quick install guide left in the cardboard boxes. I realised I have 5 batteries installed and each battery was rated a 10.kW capacity.

So I ended up with the 50kW current offer instead of my original 30kW.
I was over the moon with this, the waiting paid off.

Now the sysytem has been running for 7.5 days and I have noticed massive reduction in grid usage - daily usage was $2 to $8 (Dec 1 - 14th), now 15th - 22nd its been 10c - 60c a day.

Battery been discharging when needed and hasnt dropped below 85%, so might been worth looking at a VPP to export to the grid and get the high feed in rates.

Overall its been a journey but im very happy with the final outcome.

Fast installation

Had mine installed on Dec 31. Paid $100 deposit Dec 15. Signed quote on Dec 17. Contacted on the phone for installation on Dec 29, told they can come the next day to install.

I was told that the installers would come between 9am-12pm. Got a follow up call from the installers that they'll come at 12pm. They end up arriving at 4pm.

A crew of 4 arrived, unloaded all the supplies. They provided 2 pavers (600mm x 400mm x 40mm) and 2 bags of crushed blue metal.

The overall installation was ok. A couple of questionable decisions when running the conduit to the meter box, but it worked out. They worked till just about 8pm, then told me they had finished 80% of the work and an electrician will arrive at 8am the next day to finish. I opted in for the $50 discount to keep all the cardboard boxes. I underestimated how much cardboard this actually was, in hindsight I'd have asked for a larger credit.

The next day the electrician turned up around 8.30am. I had gotten the blackout protection option and wanted to confirm what circuits to include, so I asked him about it and was told that there wasn't blackout protection included. Called VoltX and confirmed that the contract I signed had it included. After a bit of back and forth they were going to install it the same day. This required the crew from the first day to drop off some supplies and a few hours to install. The absolute trooper of an electrician finished up around 7.30pm, which seemed insane since it was New Years Eve, but I guess they really wanted it completed before the new year.

After the whole installation I was able to configure the battery myself from the app. Managed to set it up on a schedule to charge from the grid during the free hours from my electricity provider. Although the wording in the app was a bit confusing and there weren't any clear instructions on what some settings were. So a bit of trial and error was involved.

Very happy with the system, especially at the price point that it was offered on. I've referred them to other family members to install battery systems at their homes.

Excellent value for money

After receiving a number of different quotes, I took the plunge on the Volt X offering. Definitely the lowest cost for the biggest capacity setup (50KWh battery with 10kW hybrid inverter) that I have found on the market. AC coupled to an existing 5kW solar array which I will probably extend via DC coupling at a later stage. The installation was done well and as per my requirements (internal back wall of the garage) which is 15m away from the main switchboard (so much more effort for the installer) but keeps the battery undercover and away from the hot western sun. There was a small mix up between Volt X and contract installer, job card had not identified the need for safety bollards for garage installation. I ended up getting some bollards from Bunnings which they installed and subtracted the cost of from the final invoice. Volt X were easily contactable during the install to clarify any issues. The Solplanet app is providing excellent usage data. I cannot fault the equipment or installation to date.

Excellent value, installed neatly and working well

The sales/quoting process was mostly good. I was always able to reach someone on the phone and was called back when I was told I would. There were a few occasions where I wasn't sure what was happening, but in the end the system was installed much more quickly than I anticipated.

The installers arrived ahead of schedule. The chief installer had reasonable English, kept me informed about what was happening, and asked me whenever he needed something clarified. They listened to how I wanted the cabling run and did as I requested although it was a little more work. The job was quite neat and tidy when finished.

The system was fully operational when they left. They had set up my SolPlanet account and helped me install the App. They had tidied up and left before I realised they were going, and I did have some more questions which I didn't get a chance to ask. That was only a small problem though. Overall they were friendly and professional and got the job done.

Voltx review

Avoid at all costs.

I was fooled into signing up with them in Nov 2025. They performed the installation in Dec by a third-party company called Solplanet, and the wiring is incorrect. The battery never charges from solar and keeps circulating grid power in and out. It was running for 4 days, spiking my daily use from 10kWh to over 100kWh, until I had to shut down the grid. Since then, I have tried to contact them multiple times. Most of the time, they don't answer. When they do, they say this is under review. They sent a so-called technician who couldn't speak a word of English. I had to use google translate to communicate, and he left without any fix.

I called them again today, and after spending over an hour of the phone, they said it might be another two months before they can send a technician.

Professional Installation

I've recently been the recipient of a VoltX 50KWh / 10KW Inverter package. I've been pleased with both the install and system performance to date.

The install was planned and executed swiftly, note there was about a month of quietness (I suspect VoltX are very busy) then I received a call asking if the install could occur the following week. The technician, Sean and his crew, arrived promptly as scheduled and proceeded to install the battery and inverter over a 4-5 hour period. I had a long cable run requirement.

All the conduit was up to code - electrical conduit and installed super neat, all wall fixings were galvanised and finished well.

The battery slab was provided, it's simple and worked well with the levelling feet of the battery columns.

The inverter runs reasonably quiet and the battery seems to run cool which is great.

We have had several days under heavy use, 35 degree + with the AC going. I also have an EV and have been charging the car, no issues at all.

The Solplanet app is used and seems quite flexible in how you can set the system up. I use the Time-Of-Use setting which works well with my electricity plan.

I recommend VoltX, although the pricing may seem unbelievable this is not a low quality system. it appears to be built solid and looks good. I suspect VoltX make their revenue from the government rebates and not the install. This is not to diminish the quality of the install, Ive seen some shockers out there and I'm quite fussy. I'm very happy with this install and the professionalism from the team.

So Far so good

Recently I installed a 10 KW Inverter with 50KW Solplanet Battery. I paid the $100 deposit on 14th December and by 29th December they installed the system.

It was very efficient specially given it was the holiday period. The installers were good but as per discussion with me they left the leftover boxes which was fine but the work done was a bit messy but overall they did a good job.

The battery has been running for the last 1.5 weeks and it's been running smoothly so far. The inverter and the battery temparature seems to be good.

I am reviewing 5 star as per my experience till now. But the real challenge will be the reliablity of the system in the long run and how Voltx Energy deals with any potential issues, after sale service and any warrantly claims. But so far it has been a good experience which warrants a very positive review. Hopefully that will be experience going forward as well.

Fantastic value and great service from Voltx. Highly recommended.

Solar battery now makes sense as the fed rebate kicks in. Voltx has aggressively marketed for the best value solar battery system for the money.
The quotations and options were flexible, good communication from time to time even the contractors made sure the service installation goes smooth. Tye setup is now done within a month and I can already picture my energy cost going down over the time. The ROI would be around 3 years which is pretty good.

Clean and Green

Clean and Green.
Thanks to Voltex i have gone from 3 kw panels for the last 7 years to a total of 9.3 Kw of panels, hybrid inverter, back up power in black out and 50 Kw of Batteries. The whole experience both service, communication and price has been like not going to the Dentist, painless and stress free. Installation went without a hitch, both batteries, and panels and then some more batteries. Best day so far on a East West configuration due to roof orientation has been 58 kw, more than I consume.
Next will be a smart meter, then begin exporting to the grid through a third party. It feels good to be part of the solution rather than the problem for a change and maybe soon households will be helping to power the grid at night in addition to other mainstream storage. I may have been born in the 1950s, but i don’t want this country staying there, let's keep advancing and progressing. You can’t go wrong with VoltX.

Great value for money, sub that they used for installation in SA was great

Excellent value for money on a 30kwh Neovolt system. Not a lot of information available in Australia for the system but seems to be running great so far. Some pain through the wait, an originally quoted program of 4-6 weeks turned to be 5 and a bit months, although can't be all that suprised given how popular the rebate program was.

The sub-contractor that they used for installation in souther suburbs Adelaide was phenomenal. Super friendly team, made sure installation was done cleanly & securely. Returned to fix up some niggling issues and now system is running perfectly

Steer clear of these guys

Asked for a quote for install, agreed on price and was made to pay a deposit the same day otherwise discounts will not be applied. Been months since with no contact unless I sent an enquiry.
I was initially told I would get a call to before November to confirm an install date for November.
No contact was made so I made an enquiry, then I was told it was still on track for November install and that I will be contacted 1 or 2 weeks prior to the install and that I've misunderstood the previous emails stating when the installs will be done. They even highlighted "November" so I can read it clearer.
I understand that when companies put out deals they could get inundated with new orders but they should try to at least let the customers know what is going on.

I'll be asking for a full refund.

Avoid VoltX Energy

Avoid VoltX Energy: Months of misery, dishonesty, and non-existent customer service.
If you are looking for a solar battery installation and value your time, sanity, and deposit money, look elsewhere. My experience with VoltX Energy was a catastrophic failure of communication and accountability that lasted for months. What began as a promising price quote quickly devolved into a nightmare, confirming that a "good deal" is worthless without basic professionalism.
The deceitful hook and the post-payment ghosting - The sales process was smooth, efficient, and convincing—right up until the moment my contract was signed and my deposit was paid. This is where Voltx Energy’s real modus operandi began: Once they had my money, my salesperson vanished. Any attempt to contact them with legitimate questions was met with total radio silence. This immediate post-deposit ghosting was the first of many major red flags.
After a two-month delay, the installation was finally scheduled. I was guaranteed an appointment between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.
I cleared my entire morning. I waited.
The installer finally arrived at 4:00 PM, admitting he had been booked for an afternoon slot all along, directly confirming that Voltx Energy provided false information.
This was not a slight delay; it was a full workday wasted due to their incompetence and blatant scheduling error.
When I demanded fair compensation for the significant time they stole, their response was insulting and tone-deaf - A mere $300 discount toward a blackout protection switch—an essential item I would still have to pay extra for. This demonstrates a complete lack of respect for the value of my time. Immediately following this argument, the installation was arbitrarily pushed back for another two months. The support team remained virtually impossible to reach during this entire period.
I was forced to resort to desperate measures and make multiple frustrated and loud calls just to get the attention of a Customer Support Manager. I detailed the months of delays, the scheduling deceit, and the inconvenience (including spoiled food during a recent power outage). The manager's final offer—rejecting my reasonable request for a free blackout switch installation by 2025—confirmed their unwillingness to take real accountability. They valued their paltry discount more than customer retention or correcting a severe service failure.
Run, Don't Walk, Away From Voltx Energy The relationship is terminated, but the lesson remains: Do not choose Voltx Energy if you are unwilling to tolerate months of significant, uncommunicated delays, scheduling misinformation that wastes your personal time, and the extreme frustration of having to scream at a company that has already taken your deposit.
Voltx Energy is a company you must avoid. Their excellent sales pitch is a mask for fundamentally broken post-sales support.

Bonza deal!!

ChatGPT confirms that the deal we negotiated was in the top 3-5% available on the market today. We were able to haggle the regional area installation cost and the two young blokes on a road trip from Sydney had around half-a-dozen appointments to install inland via Tamworth and Armidale, to us in the Byron Shire, then back down the coast via Coffs and Pt Macquarie.

VoltX Energy Battery purchase review

Review of My VoltX Energy Solar Battery Purchase & Installation

I recently had a 3-phase, 40 kWh VoltX battery system installed, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the entire experience.

Booking & Installation Day

My installation was booked for 9:00 am on a Thursday, and the team arrived at 9:05—remarkably punctual considering they came all the way from Sydney to Shellharbour. After a quick introduction, they got straight to work. One installer began on the meter box while another started assembling the battery stacks.

Around 11 am the supervisor arrived, and that’s when they moved into the more technical parts of the job, including the inverter setup. The power was only off for a couple of hours that morning, and by late afternoon the entire system was installed, running, and fully tested. The efficiency, organisation, and professionalism of the team really impressed me.

The Quoting & Sales Experience

Before choosing VoltX, I’d collected several other quotes—one over the phone, one on site, and one from a company that didn’t even show up on the right day. Most of them kept calling, trying to pressure me into signing.

VoltX was the complete opposite. I phoned them, explained what I wanted, and they simply emailed a quote. No pushing, no sales tactics. And to be fair, I changed my mind quite a few times:
First, I wanted 20 kWh with a 5 kW inverter
Then 30 kWh with a 5 kW inverter
Then I decided to upgrade to three-phase
Then I asked if the installers could bring extra batteries “just in case”

Every time, VoltX sent a revised quote without hesitation. I’m very detail-focused, and I like to do my homework, so their patience and transparency really stood out. Their online reviews were good—and now I can confidently add my own.
Final Outcome

I ended up with a 40 kWh, 3-phase VoltX system, and I absolutely love it. Compared with other quotes I’d received, the price was so competitive it’s almost hard to believe. They even handled all the paperwork and the Government rebate, which made the process completely stress-free.
The entire team was excellent.

Special thanks to Janet, who managed everything smoothly; Leen, who was always helpful and responsive; and Julian and his installation team, who travelled from Sydney and did an exceptional job.

Bottom line: I can’t speak highly enough of VoltX. Professional, honest, flexible, and extremely capable. I’m thrilled with the result—and now I understand why they’re so busy and in demand. Waiting a little was absolutely worth it.

Footnote : I was not paid to make this review, I did not receive any compensation or extra discount, nor was I asked to make this review but have done so a I felt Voltx Energy did a great job.

After initial hiccups in terms of quoting where the sales consultant deliberately didn't inform me about the hidden wiring fee (came to additinal $500 in the end) listed in the contract, rest of the process has been smooth. Happy I went with at least 30 KW battery , even though I have a smaller home. This allows me to particpate in VPP and export energy at decent prices plus never worry about unexpected demands from my house and EV. The app is pretty simple to understand and set up. Please be aware customer service is not easy to reach out to after the install. I only tried reaching out to clarify wiring fee, but it took me ages to reach out to someone.

Installed on time and great after sales service.

I already had a 10kWh Neovolt battery (and Enphase 10kW solar PV system) working really well for over a year, so with the government rebate program I decided to investigate adding more storage capacity. VoltX sales responded to my query, paid good attention to my needs, and gave me various options to optimise my decision. I decided to add 3 extra batteries taking the total storage system to 40kWh, while opting to stay with the original 5kW inverter.

The company explained up front that there was a surge in demand due to the rebate scheme and it could take up to 3 months. I agreed and paid the deposit. After about 6 weeks they contacted me and scheduled an appointment for installation. The installers arrived on time and did a very neat job.

There was a problem initially after the extra batteries were installed - the system would not charge above 88%. With help from VoltX Technical Support a firmware update was installed remotely and the system immediately worked properly.

My 40kWh system is fully charged most days by midday. It allows me to cook, use aircon and any appliances at night without grid imports. I've made it through consecutive days of heavy cloud and continuous rain without getting close to fully draining the battery system.

The monitoring App is accurate and easy to understand. Wireless connectivity is good.

I'm a happy customer and very pleased with all aspects of their service.

Installation went badly, customer service is hopeless and my install is very bad value for money.

The quality of the batteries that they installed appear to be good.
That is about the only good thing about this 0 star business. Unfortunately, 0 stars is not an option.

From the start, they managed to repeatedly misplace my energy bill and photographs that I submitted to them. I had to resend it to them a few times. They did not come to my place or talk to me about my blackout protection requirements, so it does not meet all my needs. My home office does not have blackout protection.

To make matters worse, they rushed the install. The brought it forward from December to November, and did not tell me that I could have gotten a much better offer had I changed to use the new rebates and new products. The system that I have right now is very poor value for money compared to the system that I could have gotten by cancelling my original order scheduled for December and ordered something from a higher quality company or even gotten a new offer from VoltX.

I know that they could have offered me a better deal because I had asked them about a different modular battery and they were very happy to make that offer to me. They were very happy to let me change my order when it made them more money.

The installation itself went badly. The smart meter was not installed correctly. It was reading as high as 8kW to 9kW as the load from my home. It also tried to charge the battery from almost 0% (It was a very dark rainy day) to 100% overnight by drawing power from the grid. It might have tried to overcharge the battery. The electrician had to return twice to make it work correctly.

I did not think much about it, but the installer left a number of plastic bags, leftover material (ie. wire cuttings, screws, ...) and cigarette butts. I suspect that one of the electricians was very stressed by his failed attempts to attach the smart meter to the 3 phase power. I counted at least 6 or 7 used cigarette butts around my fuse box and 2 in my neighbour's front yard.

Currently, there is a defective LED light on one of the brand new batteries. The electrician said that he would report it to VoltX Energy.
I have exchanged several emails with VoltX Energy and they are still refusing to actually do something about that defective LED light.

If one defective LED light can be so hard to get people to acknowledge, I hate to think what kind of nightmares VoltX will put up if the battery develops a major fault while under warranty.

They have been given at least 2 chances to make it up to me after I commented on their Facebook page. They have been good at making empty promises but have not actually delivered or done anything.
