The owners started out in solar in 2012 as a sole trader business, then transitioned into a partnership in ~2017, and as we grew even larger again we transitioned into a company in March of 2019. Solar has moved mountains since the first products became popular on rooftops in Australia. The continual advances in technology keeps us on our toes. It has always been our goal to translate our experience through to our clients and assure the quality of products we select to deal with.


We have been successful in building strong relationships with Australia’s largest solar panel distributors, which gives us the competitive edge with low price points for our clients. We pride ourselves on offering some of the longest and most encompassing product and workmanship warranties available in the industry. Most importantly, warranties that you don’t have to jump through flaming hoops to claim under.

Our base of operations here in Perth Head Office (67 Howe St, Osborne Park), primarily focuses on sales and service for our clients all over Western Australia, but also heads our national logistics network which can facilitate installations in every major city and regional area of the Eastern Sates and South Australia. This is made possible with the help of our team operating from the Gold Coast Office (1 Corporate Ct, Bundall QLD).

Very easy to deal with, equipment works well

I had a 5KW Fronius inverter and 17 panels installed in 2022. The quoting and install process were both painless and the system has been working fine ever since.

Recommended - Trusted Service

I was introduced to Sungain Solar through Solar Quotes. Dealing with Sungain solar was an easy and transparent experience. The helped educate me on my requirements and what to expect, I didn't feel any sales pressure from them at all. They gave me options to the whims of my mind. I was particularly impressed with the installers they used, very polite and professional to deal with. They came early and pretty much got started from 7am. Midway through, they realised a plumber was needed on site to remove solar collectors, something the Solargain had neglected to organise. Sungain solar together with the installers immediately took control of the stressful situation, got a plumber in on site the same day at no extra cost. These guys are absolutely amazing. The only issue I had was after the solar installation, and obtaining the Electrical Certificate, they were supposed to follow-up with the power network and my retailer of the solar installation, but somehow the ball was dropped and that didn't happen. I followed up with Sungain Solar and It took a couple more months before I saw feed-in tarrifs on my electricity bill. I am very happy with the product and the overall result. Apart from the post installation hiccup, I would still highly recommend having your solar installed through them.

Good service

Sungain gave me a fair quote based on my needs. The sales representative was approachable and answered my questions in a timely manner. However, there was a slight miscommunication in our quote. We were originally told that we could get 20 panels installed with our battery but when the installation date got closer, we were informed that only 17 panels could be installed. However, this was not a huge issue as they adjusted the quote for us. The electricians who came to fit the solar panels were quite knowledgeable and did a great job. The work was clean and they explained everything well.

Would happily recommend to others

I have been really happy with the service we received from Sungain Solar, the sales rep who came out to quote was friendly and knowledgeable and we were happy with the quote received so decided to go ahead. Once a date was locked in everything went smoothly from the paperwork to the install and the sub contractors who installed the system were clean and tidy and helpful in setting up the monitoring app. I would happily recommend Sungain Solar to family and friends

Do Not Use In Perth - Also Pay For Reviews

I do not recommend using Sungain if located in Perth.

The pre-sales team were at least knowledgeable and quoted a competitive deal, but it was based on multiple untruths. Firstly, they do not have an in-house team here in Perth. Instead, they use subcontractors for installation (Westlec installed our system on behalf of Sungain) and only have a sales team based out of a few desks in a rented office in Osborne Park. Secondly, the time frame quoted was 4 weeks. In the end, we waited 7.5 weeks, and even then, that was only because we really pushed for it and threatened to cancel. Thirdly, we were pushed to sign the contract before a site visit could be arranged. This goes against the advice of the Solar Quote website and should have been a red flag for us, but unfortunately, we were too focused on the low price and quick timeframes offered.

Post-sale, communication was diabolical. It was apparent they were very reluctant to visit the site pre-installation, leaving it until the week before and again, only after I repeatedly pressed for it. The first proposed site visit was also cancelled with no notice as well, which was very inconvenient and frustrating because I worked from home that specific day and moved meetings etc around to accommodate it.

The post-sale team is based on the East Coast. Communication regarding time, financing arrangements etc was very, very poor. There was an annoying habit of ignoring emails all week, only to then respond shortly before 5pm East Coast time on a Friday with minimal/ no update. Of course, by then, the office was closed and there was no opportunity to engage, so it would inevitably roll into another week.

Install was also sub-standard. The Fronius inverter we were provided with turns out to be not the most up to date model. This was not mentioned or discussed during the sales process. The installation team left lots of rubbish, nails and bits of packaging dotted around our property. We also asked if any roof tiles were damaged during installation and were gleefully told "no", only to find out a few weeks later that 2 tiles had been cracked and one dislodged and chipped via another electrician we had visit for another matter.

Post-installation communication has also been very poor and again, all East Coast based. We were underwhelmed by the performance of our system, which seemed to be massively underperforming. We drew this to Sungain's attention. We were told a variety of reasons as to why this was the case and why a visit to inspect would not be required. First it was a Fronius software update. Then we were told it was a shading issue (despite Sungain being responsible for the location of the panels and the trees etc being well known to them at the time of installation). Finally, they asked if it was perhaps a switchboard issue at our end. In fact, the real reason as we eventually found out after 3-4 weeks of back and forth, was because our system was capped here due to WA grid regulations, and therefore wasn't exporting back to the grid as per East Coast systems. Local knowledge would have identified this issue straight away. Similarly, it would have been good to have been informed this pre-installation, in which case we wouldn't have gone for such a large system if we knew it would only be capped at usage.

We also received a random email two weeks ago seeking to address the above issue (about 9 weeks after we asked it). It seems there was no internal communication at Sungain and nobody had marked the issue as resolved.

Finally, I write this review as I have been asked to do it by Sungain. They have financially incentivised me to do so. $30 per review, up to a value of $90. Please therefore be wary of short, positive reviews.

We have gone with a different company for our battery installation. We recommend other WA-based customers do the same, and don't get lured in by Sungain's competitive pricing.

I apologise that your installation went from 4 weeks to 7.5 weeks. This is uncommon for us, but as with a lot of trades work, each property is a case-by-case scenario, with yours presenting increased complications which we made you aware of. We currently offer both in-person and virtual site inspections, completed by our electricians or electrical engineers respectively. We are always happy to visit a site pre-installation, and as you point out in your review, this was completed prior to your install. I can see that this inspection was rescheduled once, and I apologise for any inconvenience this caused.

I am seeing some assumptions that are incorrect in your review. To be clear, we have a well staffed operations, customer service and engineering team who are all equally responsible for pre and post installation enquiries. Some of our team are based in Queensland and work alongside those based in Western Australia and Victoria. I’m unsure how you came to the conclusion that everyone is on the East coast, this is not the case. Your Fronius inverter is also the current model available for sale from Australian suppliers stocking this brand. The quote that was provided to you specifically detailed this model, which you requested us to install on your property in your acceptance. The assertion that we installed anything other is not accurate.

We have a team of electrical engineers who calculate the performance of each customer’s solar system prior to installation. In your above review you have sighted ‘massive underperformance’. We have yet to hear from you with any claims that prove this and are supported by our remote monitoring of your system’s production. Your statements are quite defamatory and inaccurate, which is hurtful to our efforts to do the best by you. I do however respect your time in leaving feedback as it always helps us grow stronger.

Very happy with Installation and service

During the quote process they were quick, open and honest. While it didn't end up being the cheapest quote , their communication gave me confidence. Installation was brought forward and the install team were great. I’ve had a couple of enquiries since installation and they are happy to respond and help. When I first contacted Sungain solar I got a lady in Queensland she was absolutely fantastic quick efficient and very knowledgeable.
The service from the Osborne Park team was equally as good promotional and helpful.
I had a problem with the WiFi I sent an email and they resolved the issue straight away.

Disappointed to say the least

Don't choose Sungain Solar in Perth unless you're prepared for delays and disappointment.
Victoria based with no installation team or capability here in Perth.
Demanded 30 percent deposit that was reluctantly paid end of Feb because they were the cheapest of my 3 quote referrals via Solar Quotes website.
Drop the ball for 2 months after being told "4 weeks and it will be on your roof".
Countless chasing and following up at my end while thinking I may have been scammed due to genetic email responses. Also had a 6am call from someone wanting to schedule an installation inspection the same day because the weather in Australia was changing (weather was fine that week).
Requested me to fund additional costs for scaffolding after a 3rd party installer inspection (that took 2 attempts because the inspector only had a short ladder and had to return a few days later with a second short ladder to reach the roof) late April.
I pushed back on the additional cost because the agreed price included my 2 storey installation.
Senior rep called to apologise for the unacceptable performance of his team blaming a single underperforming staff member.
Senior rep attempted to engage another 3rd party installer to do a "drive by site inspection" but was unable to provide a date or timeframe for installation.
I suggested a full refund would be the best course of action to relieve pressure off all parties.
Received refund minus "stripe charges" within 2 working days.
Skilled at providing timely refunds (minus $22) but not much else.

We believe you have misrepresented us in this review, given that you have been in contact with me directly and received full transparency and honesty from us to help get this installation on track, in light of the complications your property presents. As we have spoken about, you were struggling to contact the mobile number of a member of our customer service team who is no longer with us. Our 1300 number has always been readily available online, and goes directly through to our entire customer service team.

You state that we demanded a 30% deposit from you but fail to identify that, assumedly after much consideration, you opted to select a solar package from us that required a 30% deposit. The suggestion that we demanded this from you is misleading and false. Similarly, we never promised a 3 week installation date as we spoke about over the phone. We always advise of a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks during the quoting process for your region.

You state in your review that you thought you had been scammed despite receiving regular email updates from us about the timeline of your installation. I hope that regular updates from us improved your experience, and not the opposite that you are suggesting. I sincerely apologise that your system could not be installed in the quick-turnaround timeline you envisioned. After I spoke with you about this recently you requested the refund of your deposit instead of waiting the extra two weeks we proposed, and we immediately refunded this to you. We decided to go with Sungain Solar based on a positive recommendation from friends who were happy with their own solar upgrade from Sungain.

Josh, our contact at Sungain, was knowledgeable and straightforward about costs and timelines. He took the time to go through the details, ensuring the solar setup was a good fit for our property and energy needs. It was refreshing to deal with someone so upfront in an industry where transparency isn't always the norm.

Sungain's warranties on the panels and inverter seemed competitive, and their experience in the field gave us confidence that any issues down the line would be handled well.

Good quality country installation

The team at Sungain Solar were really great, and offered us a range of options for our property in Narrogin. They were one of the few installers that were happy to go out to a rural area, and the additional price for doing so was minimal. The installation team was also professional and courteous when they came out and did a solid job of the install. We’ve had it running for nearly 6 months now and it hasn’t had any issues at all.

Overall Great Service and non pushy sales team

I am absolutely thrilled with my new 10kW 3 phase system from Sungain Solar. The upgrade from my previous 6.6kW system has resulted in significant savings for me, amounting to thousands of dollars per year. Throughout the entire process, Paul from Sungain Solar was incredibly patient and accommodating. He worked with me for weeks, updating the quote multiple times until it was exactly what I wanted. Once we agreed on the system upgrade, the installation was promptly scheduled.
I've already recommended Sungain Solar to a friend who also had a fantastic experience. Compared to other companies, he was amazed at how quickly Sungain Solar locked in an installation date at a fair price, after struggling for weeks with other providers.

Sungain Solar from Melbourne were really good to deal with. Excellent knowledge about their product and what looks to be a good support package. They certainly weren't the cheapest but happy to pay for quality and service. Their installers were very efficient, very tidy, and very friendly with good communication. Decent system with poor after sales support!

I wanted to bring to your attention my recent experience with the installation process after signing up for your services.

Initially, I was pleased with the front end of the process; the design and quoting stages were handled well, with questions promptly answered and quotes adjusted accordingly. However, difficulties arose post sign-up. Approvals were significantly delayed due to administrative issues, leading to a lack of communication and leaving me in the dark about the progress. This lack of transparency made me question the legitimacy of the business, causing significant frustration on my end.

Despite these challenges, approval eventually came through, and installation dates were secured. Unfortunately, the installation itself did not go smoothly. An unexpected supplier logistics delay caused a postponement, leading to rescheduling and rearranging of priorities on my part. To add to the frustration, there was no proper handover post-installation, and I had to actively chase down the subcontractor for basic login information.

The most disappointing part of this experience has been the ongoing lack of communication post-installation. Despite numerous attempts to contact Sungain Solar for essential information regarding consumption and net usage, I have not received any meaningful responses or support. This disregard for customer service is truly disheartening, especially considering the initial faith I had in your company when signing up for your services.

I urge you to address these communication gaps and improve the customer service experience for future clients. Clear and timely communication is crucial in ensuring customer satisfaction and trust in your services.

Delayed Installation and Unmet Expectations

I chose Sungain Solar for my solar system installation in Perth. Initially, the representative provided a satisfactory quote and assured a 2 to 3-week installation timeframe. However, after making the down payment, I was informed of a 6-week wait, contrary to the initial promise. Despite this, I arranged my schedule for the confirmed installation date of April 12th, which was just beyond the 6-week period. I settled the full invoice before the installation date as requested. Unfortunately, the installation team did not turn up as scheduled on the installation day, and I received no communication regarding the cancellation. Subsequent attempts to contact Sungain Solar for rescheduling have been met with unresponsiveness, leaving me without any installation date and awaiting a callback that has yet to come.
This experience has been highly disappointing and reflects poorly on Sungain Solar's professionalism. I can't recommend a company that fails to uphold basic customer service standards.

Great service for 6.6KW Jinko and GodWe installation

Sugain Solar installed a 6.6kW Jinko solar system with a GoodWe inverter for us, and it's been fantastic. Luke Peterson and Jules Lowrie were great to deal with—super informative and not pushy at all. They helped us from start to finish, even coordinating with our retailer. The system works great, and we're really happy with the service from Sugain Solar!

Company installed cheaper product and now refusing to answer calls

I had decided to purchase a Fronius system specifically to connect to my Home Assistant smart home, the salesperson was impressed that I had done my research and that I was an easy customer who needed no sales pitch. I was told if I ordered quickly, I could get a more premium all-black install at the price of a regular install (as part of a bulk order for a commercial customer), and that it should be on our roof in 3-4 weeks. We proceeded with the contract.

As soon as we paid the deposit, our friendly salesperson vanished and every time I have called their office since, I have spoken to a different "Virtual Receptionist" who doesn't work for Sungain but only takes messages. After waiting several weeks with no updates about approval, I contacted Sungain, who replied the next day and said that our install was approved, but that now their installers might be busy for up to 8 weeks (delay tactic?). After pushing back, we did end up with an install date sooner. Their engineer then contacted me and told me that the proposal I had selected on Solarquotes was now not possible, and my system would be a different configuration with slightly less performance.

On the day of the install, I was told that the panel configuration would be changed again, to a simpler install. The subcontractor and assistant started early and were finished in 3 hours. The "premium all black finish" that we were supposed to have delivered, now has small scratches and marks on all of the corners where they lifted the panels on the driveway. Putting the cardboard box down first would have protected the finish, a minor detail but showing a lack of care/professionalism. The installers were the least-worst part of my experience. The salesperson I spoke to told me we would have an all-black finish, however the frame holding the panels is regular untreated aluminium. Again, it won't affect the solar performance, but it is NOT what we agreed upon. I should get the product that I was quoted, not a cheaper and simpler product.

Unfortunately my experience with Sungain got a lot worse after installation. The subcontractor told me Sungain would finish setting up my inverter including registering with the manufacturer for cloud/app monitoring, and crucially, the Inverter Customer Password that I need to access the Smart Home features of the inverter that were a KEY purchasing requirement. Sungain has never returned ANY of my calls and emails, in the end I waited an hour on hold with Fronius to reset the password myself. (Side note: my integration with Home Assistant now works brilliantly, after enabling it myself)

My system has an export limit set when there shouldn't be, meaning I am only operating at half performance. And finally, I have asked Sungain to provide me with an updated Solarquotes "proposal" with the system that they have installed, so that I can compare what they initially advertised versus what they delivered. They have not replied.

Sungain had below average customer service before installation, the installation was not the quality I expected, the product we got delivered was not what we paid for, and Sungain has not provided ANY customer service whatsoever since install. I have tried ringing their head office, emailing the people I spoke to directly, and emailing the general inbox and have never had my messages returned. I suppose my only other option to reach someone there is to go in person.

Given their zero customer service this close to purchase, I expect that if I have any major faults with my system, I will have to once again do all the legwork to have the issue fixed, their advertised "17 year warranty" is completely worthless if you can't get in contact with anyone at the company. I would not recommend Sungain for any reason.

Upon searching for the best solar company, we came across Sungain Solar, extremely professional prompt and fitted the main solar box and all the panels shortly after. We were shown how to use the app and checked in on us to make sure we were happy. Great experience and would highly recommend this company for your next solar investment.

Sungain - Fast Solar

Sungain was one of the 3 companies put forward to us via SolarQuotes and was the best value from the quotes we received for a 6.6kW system.

From accepting the quote, it only took 2-3 weeks before the installation was carried out last June by the team which took 3-4 hours.

Since then, we have enjoyed greatly reduced electricity bills and even had nothing to pay during some periods.

Happy with the product and customer service

I was looking for a while to get Solar system on my roof as Energy bill are going out of control, luckily I clicked on Sunsolarquotes and Sungain solar come up as the most reasonable in price and good reviews .
I decided to give a go and called them, in no time I found out they are what I was looking for! .
They been good since and I do recommend them , In my opinion they are NOT like other companies, ( full of ), they are exactly what it says on the tin.

still waiting to complete installation of system , part installed

About end of September 2023 paid deposit for the system and batterys, installation x 2 visits now have panels on roof and wiring runs awaiting connection, awaiting other parts to be connected and when they can visit again, installers great efficient but logistics I suspect are an issue re regional installation. We are trying to be patient.
Had a business system installed in my business premises, x 3 months start to finish in our town. Company base in same Melbourne area
looking forward to finalising our part installation. We wonder when it will all be joined together and working.

The team , worked well together,everyone had there job to do, and the apprentice work with the tradie.i was surprised to see they were actually teaching the young people .and they were on time.

Great customer service

We got several quotes when looking for solar installation, Sungain solar were not our first choice as we ended up accepting a quote with of the cheaper options with sun boost and paying a deposit.
When another tradesman come to our house they told us that we couldnt have the system we wanted and that we would have to get less panels and put them sideways which we accepted only for them to reject our job a week later upon second visit because they didn’t realise we had a tile roof and the spacing in our roof trusses wouldn’t work for their panels apparently.
We rang sungain back and explained the issues that we went through ,they had a tradesman out to our house with in the week and we got the extra panels we originally wanted and for a great price

Sungain Solar

Organising installation was seamless. Good value for money and saving money on power since installation. Highly recommend this company given how easy everything was from the day of receiving quote until day of installation. Performance has been great and is great being able to track electricity usage and receding electricity rebates for unused power. Haven’t had any issues since installation, so far so good

Don't choose Sungain Solar

Signed up with sungainsolar on January 24 and received an installation date of 20th of February. The morning of the installationn, I received a SMS saying that the installation wouldn't be going ahead because of a stick team member. A week went by with no contact from anyone. Numerous phone calls to a receptionist, another few days went by until the receptionist herself ended up just saying that they could fit them in April but no exact date. Absolute muck around!!! I requested a refund and that was another muck around for a week. Stay away from this company!!!!!!

great value for money

My partner and I had a 6kw solar system installed through sungain back in august 2023, and we couldn’t be happier with how the whole process went right from the getting the quotes to the installation process. The company was very thorough with their products and systems that they used and the benefits we would get from having solar. Since installation we haven’t had any issues and the follow up care post installation has been brilliant. Great all round service and product quality, highly recommended!

Highly recommended!

From the initial consultation right through to the installation of our solar system, sungain have been fantastic! The sales representative Annie wasn’t pushy and was super accomodating with our financial requests when it came to payment. We had a system installed and we couldn’t be happy with it, and was good value and quality! We couldn’t recommend them enough!

Very helpful!

Wasn't sure what model would be suitable for my needs IRT energy efficiency, Luke was very helpful with explaining the different options.

Customer service couldn't be better, there was a delay with installing the solar but they were very helpful with any issues that arised.

Getting solar was the best thing I could do. Saved a lot of money
