Alex and the team were honest, and got our tricky installation done
Alex came to visit at the home to discuss what we needed and how we could work around planned renovations to quote for the best option for our solar installation. Alex was honest and not at all pushy - which was a refreshing change.As the installation was tricky (high pitched, tin roof, obstructing trees/foliage), four guys worked together to get the installation done. There was an initial hiccup/miscommunication with placement of one of the rails (the panels would be placed where skylights will be placed in the renovation) but the installers removed and repositioned with minimal fuss.
The installers cleaned up after themselves thoroughly, they were polite and punctual.
I would not hesitate to recommend Alex and the team for any tricky solar install!

Great service and amazing system
Macdonald air and electrical recently installed our 11.1kw solar system with almost 8kw battery.The service was excellent from start to finish, and the installation went smoothly. Would recommend to anyone. Looking forward to our offgrid lifestyle.

A well balanced system to reduce reliance on Grid Feed
Alex MacDonald offered a competitive price for a system to run our house off grid. The quoting system was easy to follow and approve.Although the installation took quiet a long period to get everything installed and working, the persistence got it all sorted.
The old system was removed and the new Solar Panels(33 x 370w) went up with a slight adjustment to layout. We have 4 strings of varying sizes, one to each compass point to maximise the sun movement during seasons and day. The 2 x 5.0kW Fronius Invertors(Primo Snap & GEN24) installed on external wall. Their was a supply chain delay with the 11kW BYD Battery Box by a month. When the battery box did arrive the battery installation was straight forward. We did have a time in configuring the Full Backup to work, after many calls to Fronius Tech support, and finally got it all working after attempts. Overall very happy its all now working considering the number of components.

Good service and product
Very happy with our panels and inverter. Alex and the team were very price competitive compared to other local companies.Recommended good products with no pressure.
Any small issues were dealt with very promptly.

Still a Happy customer a year on in!
After obtaining 6 quotes for various 5 to 10kW solar system for my mother’s property in the Samford area in Feb 2020 we chose Macdonald Air and Electrical.Alex attended site and suggested what equipment he could install, along with a detailed site report and quote for equipment options he had suggested.
The main thing that struck me with Alex (Macdonald Air and Electrical) was the total lack of sales talk/pressure trying to push the sale to “get the job” he was honest and up front with what he was quoting and why.
His price was his price to get the job done right by his company!
He quoted good quality equipment at a reasonable price compared with other quotes for similar/same equipment.
Fronius 10.0-3-M 31x350W Longi Solar Hi-MOX panels
Installation was fast and went well after a small delay only due to rain.
All his team were polite and very tidy even when the boss was not around the focus was on getting the job done.
Good to see in this day and age, very happy with his whole team.
From quote to completion and grid connection I would do the same again 100%.
I would not hesitate to recommend, and have passed his company name on to others since our installation for Solar and other electrical work.
Since the above Solar install I have also had Macdonald Air and Electrical install a 18kW fully ducted multi zone AC system at my mothers house and a 25kW ducted system at my house.
More than happy with this company.

Customer focussed and good installation team
Alex was only supplier to really think about size of system. The team which showed up were a good bunch of guys and did a good tidy job. Have yet to see how it goes as smart meter not yet installed.Have since asked MacDonald A&E to come back and do some other work on house.

Fantastic solar
Just had our system installed Alex and the team did an amazing job. He spent the time discussing various options and was very accommodating when I decided to add a battery to the setup.I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an awesome solar setup.

Wonderful experience
We had a Fronius 8.2kw inverter and 29x Jinko panels installed recently by the team at Macdonald Air & Electrical. The system design was shown to us along with the quote and on the day the team explained to us how to monitor the system and the job was done neat and tidy. We have access to an online app to see our production and consumption and we are on track for a credit. Good news considering our bill use to be between $600-700 a quarter.Panel rating: 5/5

A Great Solar Experience
The sales and quotation process was excellent. I contacted Macdonald Air & Electrical after they had completed installation of an air conditioner for me as I was very happy with the workmanship and price. Alex came to my property, accessed the roof and meterbox to give a thorough assessment and gave me a detailed quote which was agreed and installation date arranged.Installation went very smoothly, He arrived at the arranged time, the installation went as advised taking a full day to complete. I had a 6.6 Kw system installed on two roof surfaces. The work was completed and the site was left clean and tidy- taking their waste with them. The workmen were very curtiuos and polite.
The customer service in terms of assistance to connect to the grid was very good too. Alex had advised that Energex would need to upgrade the current meter to a smart meter and arranged the paperwork with the authority. Energex attended the site and had no issues with his work, the meter was installed and I've enjoyed the benifits of solar panel installation

Awesome equipment and installed perfectly !!!
I have only had my Solar recently installed, I was given a very detailed quote with plenty of options to suit my budget and specific needs. The process was easy and the communication was brilliant. The tradesman were prompt and very clean the cleared up all mess after the job and the system works exactly to my expectations. If your looking for Solar I recommend you speak to Alex from Macdonald Air and Electrical he will make it easy and give lots of options and you will be very happy with the quality of the product and the install, it's 5 stars from me as I am extremely happy. They even sorted out my appliances coming on at the optimum time of the day via timers so I maximize the in-coming power, my first bill come in at $90 this time last year my bill was over a $1000 so now it's paying for itself.Panel rating: 5/5

One out of three tenderers didn't even bother with a home visit, even though it was specifically requested - they were immediately not considered any further.One tenderer both on the phone and at the home visit just spoke in circles and didn't seem to fully and adequately provide answers to questions asked - plus the price offered for the STC was considerably lower than the others.
The tender selected was because the person conducting the home visit (the business owner) could very clearly and in fully understandable words answer and explain every question put to them. They were also the only one who undertook an app based "shade assessment" that led to a good discussion on the different options for the solar panel configuration on the roof. I had to wait about four weeks before they were available for the installation, but I was quite happy to do so. The installation itself was undertaken over two days and proceeded without any issues.
Now waiting for the installation of the new smart meter by Energex before the system can go live.
