Hobbs is a family-owned business that has proudly served the Blue Mountains community for over 40 years.
Our in-house electrical team includes CEC-accredited solar installers, battery and off-grid specialists, as well as several Level 2 qualified electricians, ensuring we can meet a wide range of electrical needs. Hobbs Electrical is very well versed in the solar space with many installs over the past 3 years covering both grid connected and off grid set ups, AC and DC Battery installs and predominately ENPHASE and SUNGROW inverter options with Trina and REC panels.
By combining their skills, experience, knowledge, and positive attitudes with our extensive range of tools and equipment, we deliver a level of service that is truly unmatched.
Located in Blaxland we serve a wide area, including the entire Blue Mountains right out to Lithgow and Oberon, the Nepean and also the Hawkesbury regions.

Quality Blue mountains installers
Rhys was very helpful & informative during the quoting process.& then Drew was very helpful & patient for running the install & commissioning the system.
Everything works well.
We are pleased we selected Hobbs for our solar system & also pleased we could deal with a firm who weren’t going to subcontract out the installation contract! We’d be happy to use them again for any other solar projects etc should we need to.

A job well done
I had Hobbs Electrical and Solar put a 9.2kWh Solar array ( 475W Trina Solar Vertex S+) and a Battery (Sigenergy SigenStor-10S-16 (AS4777-2 2020) · 16.12kWh) on our home in Bathurst.We had Sales Rep Rhys Birks from Hobbs Electrical and Solar come to our house and quote on the solar system. I found Rhys to be one of the most professional quoters I've come across.
He actually cared about our needs and what was appropriate for the size of our house and our electric storage needs.
He didn't quote us on a system that was not needed and gave us exactly the sweet spot for this customer's needs
He turned up when he said he would and gave us the information in a way we understood.
The installer team that came was professional. Tom, Ryan, and the team kept us informed about what was going on with any changes that had to happen during the installation.
In an industry where the cowboys have arrived for the quick bucks, Hobbs Electrical & Solar is not one of them. I have no hesitation in recommending Hobbs Electrical and Solar their sales rep Rhys, and the installer team. You pay for what you get. I got a professional Sales rep, a quality installer team, and a quality solar array and battery.

Professional Installation
Getting a Solar Installation is a complex and expensive item to have. Rhy wasn’t the cheapest quote but he was the most flexible. As we wanted a board upgrade and 3 phase installation with the battery under cover, Hobbs said “ no problem”and adjusted their quotes to cover every change we wanted. Other companies were not interested.We were booked in a date and the install was done in a tidy punctual manner They arranged the smart meters and the removal of all the old meters and panels.
I didn’t realise how much software is involved in these installs, they can be controlled and monitored remotely. Tom explained and showed me the apps for the battery and panels. Probably a bit more time would have been nice, .to cover this more throughly. Two days after install I had an issue there the BOM can turn off your battery. A email to Tom quickly explained this feature with him monitoring my place to check all was ok.
I would be happy to recommend Hobbs Electrical to any one that wants a professional , efficient installation

Highly recommended
The sales and quoting process was professional, clear and concise. At all times they listened to our requirements and were open to a number of options to match our needs.During the installation the team were extremely professional with both the quality of work and the attention to detail. They left the site totally clean and tidy and at all times were approachable and polite.
The whole process required a second day for the panels to be installed and we were informed of any delays that might be encountered.
The customer service was of a high standard with all steps from initial contact to the completion of the job being to our total satisfaction.
All the processes connecting to the grid were undertaken by the installers.
We would highly recommend Hobbs Electrical for their professional approach and consideration of our requirements.

Highly recommend Hobbs
We had a great experience with Hobbs, right from the first quote and answering all our questions to getting everything set up. The crew showed up on time, were friendly, and everything was installed super neatly. They even upgraded our switchboard and meter. All in all, we’re happy with how things turned out and totally recommend Hobbs if you want a solar system.04 March 2026
Very neat install. Quickly done, minimum of fuss
Hobbs where a pleasure to work with. Could have gone cheaper but I doubt that it would have been done as promptly and I would not have been as happy.

Seamless from start to finish
Took a whilst from contract signing to installing, but this was not due to installer, the batteries were in high demand and there was a 2 month waiting listI was kept informed and even changed my mind half way through the install, switching from a 5kW single to a 10kW three phase (best decision I made), the installer was quick to price things up and even re-worked the house power board to suit

Great installer
Our experience with Hobbs, excellent from initial quote to install! Only company who came out even tho there was nobody at the house. Rhys, listened to my requests, and came back with the most efficient use of roof space. Made changes as requested, also upgrade of my circuit board to comply to standardThe Install Team were punctual, polite and super helpful answering my questions at each stage of install and taking me thru the AP and basic operating procedures. The work area left in a clean and tidy state.
everything looks neat and tidy, and is really aesthetic from the street view. Battery stack, Inverter, and gateway neatly installed
Very competitive prices
All round this was a positive experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a solar system.

Professional, Accessible, and quality
I couldn't have wished for a better installer. Rhys was the only installer we quoted from, who checked our site out personally.After the initial quote, I changed my mind from Synergy. They were very quick in providing an alternate system, with clear explanations as to the new system of Sungrow.
Their communication through the entire pre-installation period.
The installation went as smooth as pancakes. The started early and finished early. The quality of their work was very professional, yet friendly.
I very happy with the entire process and the equipment that the installed.

Couldn't be happier
The quoting process was seamless. Sales person turned up on time and was polite, honest, informative and very helpful.The installation went very well, the team did an amazing job and the plan was executed to perfection. The team were all neat, tidy, well mannered and efficient.

Great team, highly recommended
We always wanted solar and upgraded, replaced, and added items for comfort and to fully electrify over the past few years--LED lighting, roof replaced with insulation, new hot water tank, double-glazed windows, three-phase power supply, split-system aircon. When the rebate for batteries came on, we decided to do it.Quotes and Site Visit:
- Hobbs showed up as scheduled and kept in touch
- discussed panel placement, inverter choice, battery option
- good solid exchange with rep listening to concerns and what I understood from my research. (Another vendor would not come out.)
- reviewed and signed the contract
Installation of Panels:
- arrived promptly and completed all in one day
- I easily consulted with working team, providing photos of loft access
- I was available to approve panel orientation change… same number of panels but changed from portrait to landscape to best fit roof sections
- I downloaded and was shown panel smartphone app, which was connected to our home network. I was told a software update would happen over 24 hours for full functionality.
- good site cleanup
Installation of Battery:
- due to demand from new rebate program, battery was on back order
- panels were installed in mid-August, and the battery in early November
- again, arrived promptly completing installation in one day
- battery status smartphone app explained and connected
- components and house backup feature explained
Performance and Support:
- easy to track system with both apps
- on panel app error message, sent screen capture image and team member stopped out in 24 hours to confirm settings and cable. The battery app takes priority control at times.
- our neighbourhood had a three-hour power outage and we didn’t notice as the battery’s house backup feature provided continuous power
Conclusion:
- 5 out of 5 stars for communication, installation, quality of components, and follow-up service

Hobbs Electrical Sungrow Battery Install
Rhys from Hobbs was the only one that made the effort to come to my house for the quote. He was very professional and informative, I was very comfortable dealing with him. The install was schedule very well and the install went very as supervised by Tom. Job well done!!! I’m really impressed with the performance of the battery and the system setup, I’m already seeing significant benefits and confident the battery will pay for itself within the next 4-5 years based on my historical consumption. Happy Customer
Hobbs have been given competitive pricing and installed a quality system. They installed a 8kwh worth of panels and a 10kwh battery. They have been consultative and collaborative in picking the right system for me.Would recommend them for any of your electrical needs.

Great service, would recommend - a great local company
Hobbs were great, they communicated well, were very punctual. Customer service was excellent, quoting in person was appreciated and they organised the entire project from quoting, through installation and the grid connection, including Level 2 ASP (NSW).Hobbs also provided an upgrade of the meter and rewiring of the 3-phase meter and switchboard, including grid backup for blackout protection.
No issues at all, I would recommend them. Also generalist electricians, which is handy and have used them before.

Pro installer
We had a 10kW solar panel system installed and the experience with Rhys and the Hobbs team were great.After the initial consultation we also had another one to address some changes and concerns. All our requests were accommadated and the planning discussion was professional and informative. The installation took just a day. They arrived on time and finished with a small demonstration and practical elements in late afternoon. Our installation (Enphase system) came with new switchboard, a smart meter and a mobile app to monitor the system and production in real time.
So far, it's been 10 months since the install and we have seen great results and savings. Going solar was a great investment and it was good to choose a local, reputable installer like Hobbs.

Excellent experience with Hobbs Electrical – Professional, reliable, and trustworthy
The sales and quoting process with Hobbs Electrical was excellent. I received a very detailed and transparent quote that was tailored to my specific needs and goals. Rhys took the time to understand exactly what I wanted to achieve, including electrifying my home, removing gas, and installing a system that could generate revenue by exporting excess solar to the grid. He designed a system that met my day-to-day needs, gave me flexibility for the future, and included a heat pump hot water system so I could uninstall my gas water heater.The installation process was smooth and well organised. The installers were punctual, reliable, polite, and courteous throughout. They worked efficiently, kept the site tidy, and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was completed. Everything ran to schedule, and I was impressed by the level of professionalism shown across the team.

Great installer, professional and knowledgeable
Great experience, first with panels, battery and 3-phase board install, then followed up with battery expansion and EV charger. Quote was provided after in persion visit, options discussed and agreed. Installation was on time as quoted, work area left clean and tidy, installers were knowledgeable about the system, the tech and app(s), demonstrating use. Highly recommend
Our experience with Hobbs Electrical was excellent from start to finish. They weren't the cheapest quote, but they weren't that much more expensive, but the small price difference was worth the professionalism. Rhys, who helped with the quote, actually came out to see the site, rather than doing everything online, and was incredibly helpful when I called back with a bucket load of questions about switching energy providers once the battery was installed, and helped explain the differences between the options provided, including helping me choose between battery type and size.Installation happened when they promised, and the team that did it were friendly, respectful and answered any questions I had. And when something wasn't quite right, they were back the next day to sort it straight away.
The panels were all installed, and they use a nice black rail to blend in with the panels, so everything looks neat and tidy, and classy compared to our old system.
All round this was a positive experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you are looking for a solar system.
