The owners started out in solar in 2012 as a sole trader business, then transitioned into a partnership in ~2017, and as we grew even larger again we transitioned into a company in March of 2019. Solar has moved mountains since the first products became popular on rooftops in Australia. The continual advances in technology keeps us on our toes. It has always been our goal to translate our experience through to our clients and assure the quality of products we select to deal with.


We have been successful in building strong relationships with Australia’s largest solar panel distributors, which gives us the competitive edge with low price points for our clients. We pride ourselves on offering some of the longest and most encompassing product and workmanship warranties available in the industry. Most importantly, warranties that you don’t have to jump through flaming hoops to claim under.

Our base of operations here in Perth Head Office (67 Howe St, Osborne Park), primarily focuses on sales and service for our clients all over Western Australia, but also heads our national logistics network which can facilitate installations in every major city and regional area of the Eastern Sates and South Australia. This is made possible with the help of our team operating from the Gold Coast Office (1 Corporate Ct, Bundall QLD).

Great service for 6.6KW Jinko and GodWe installation

Sugain Solar installed a 6.6kW Jinko solar system with a GoodWe inverter for us, and it's been fantastic. Luke Peterson and Jules Lowrie were great to deal with—super informative and not pushy at all. They helped us from start to finish, even coordinating with our retailer. The system works great, and we're really happy with the service from Sugain Solar!

Company installed cheaper product and now refusing to answer calls

I had decided to purchase a Fronius system specifically to connect to my Home Assistant smart home, the salesperson was impressed that I had done my research and that I was an easy customer who needed no sales pitch. I was told if I ordered quickly, I could get a more premium all-black install at the price of a regular install (as part of a bulk order for a commercial customer), and that it should be on our roof in 3-4 weeks. We proceeded with the contract.

As soon as we paid the deposit, our friendly salesperson vanished and every time I have called their office since, I have spoken to a different "Virtual Receptionist" who doesn't work for Sungain but only takes messages. After waiting several weeks with no updates about approval, I contacted Sungain, who replied the next day and said that our install was approved, but that now their installers might be busy for up to 8 weeks (delay tactic?). After pushing back, we did end up with an install date sooner. Their engineer then contacted me and told me that the proposal I had selected on Solarquotes was now not possible, and my system would be a different configuration with slightly less performance.

On the day of the install, I was told that the panel configuration would be changed again, to a simpler install. The subcontractor and assistant started early and were finished in 3 hours. The "premium all black finish" that we were supposed to have delivered, now has small scratches and marks on all of the corners where they lifted the panels on the driveway. Putting the cardboard box down first would have protected the finish, a minor detail but showing a lack of care/professionalism. The installers were the least-worst part of my experience. The salesperson I spoke to told me we would have an all-black finish, however the frame holding the panels is regular untreated aluminium. Again, it won't affect the solar performance, but it is NOT what we agreed upon. I should get the product that I was quoted, not a cheaper and simpler product.

Unfortunately my experience with Sungain got a lot worse after installation. The subcontractor told me Sungain would finish setting up my inverter including registering with the manufacturer for cloud/app monitoring, and crucially, the Inverter Customer Password that I need to access the Smart Home features of the inverter that were a KEY purchasing requirement. Sungain has never returned ANY of my calls and emails, in the end I waited an hour on hold with Fronius to reset the password myself. (Side note: my integration with Home Assistant now works brilliantly, after enabling it myself)

My system has an export limit set when there shouldn't be, meaning I am only operating at half performance. And finally, I have asked Sungain to provide me with an updated Solarquotes "proposal" with the system that they have installed, so that I can compare what they initially advertised versus what they delivered. They have not replied.

Sungain had below average customer service before installation, the installation was not the quality I expected, the product we got delivered was not what we paid for, and Sungain has not provided ANY customer service whatsoever since install. I have tried ringing their head office, emailing the people I spoke to directly, and emailing the general inbox and have never had my messages returned. I suppose my only other option to reach someone there is to go in person.

Given their zero customer service this close to purchase, I expect that if I have any major faults with my system, I will have to once again do all the legwork to have the issue fixed, their advertised "17 year warranty" is completely worthless if you can't get in contact with anyone at the company. I would not recommend Sungain for any reason.

Upon searching for the best solar company, we came across Sungain Solar, extremely professional prompt and fitted the main solar box and all the panels shortly after. We were shown how to use the app and checked in on us to make sure we were happy. Great experience and would highly recommend this company for your next solar investment.

Sungain - Fast Solar

Sungain was one of the 3 companies put forward to us via SolarQuotes and was the best value from the quotes we received for a 6.6kW system.

From accepting the quote, it only took 2-3 weeks before the installation was carried out last June by the team which took 3-4 hours.

Since then, we have enjoyed greatly reduced electricity bills and even had nothing to pay during some periods.

Happy with the product and customer service

I was looking for a while to get Solar system on my roof as Energy bill are going out of control, luckily I clicked on Sunsolarquotes and Sungain solar come up as the most reasonable in price and good reviews .
I decided to give a go and called them, in no time I found out they are what I was looking for! .
They been good since and I do recommend them , In my opinion they are NOT like other companies, ( full of ), they are exactly what it says on the tin.

still waiting to complete installation of system , part installed

About end of September 2023 paid deposit for the system and batterys, installation x 2 visits now have panels on roof and wiring runs awaiting connection, awaiting other parts to be connected and when they can visit again, installers great efficient but logistics I suspect are an issue re regional installation. We are trying to be patient.

Great customer service

We got several quotes when looking for solar installation, Sungain solar were not our first choice as we ended up accepting a quote with of the cheaper options with sun boost and paying a deposit.
When another tradesman come to our house they told us that we couldnt have the system we wanted and that we would have to get less panels and put them sideways which we accepted only for them to reject our job a week later upon second visit because they didn’t realise we had a tile roof and the spacing in our roof trusses wouldn’t work for their panels apparently.
We rang sungain back and explained the issues that we went through ,they had a tradesman out to our house with in the week and we got the extra panels we originally wanted and for a great price

Organising installation was seamless. Good value for money and saving money on power since installation. Highly recommend this company given how easy everything was from the day of receiving quote until day of installation. Performance has been great and is great being able to track electricity usage and receding electricity rebates for unused power. Haven’t had any issues since installation, so far so good

Don't choose Sungain Solar

Signed up with sungainsolar on January 24 and received an installation date of 20th of February. The morning of the installationn, I received a SMS saying that the installation wouldn't be going ahead because of a stick team member. A week went by with no contact from anyone. Numerous phone calls to a receptionist, another few days went by until the receptionist herself ended up just saying that they could fit them in April but no exact date. Absolute muck around!!! I requested a refund and that was another muck around for a week. Stay away from this company!!!!!!

great value for money

My partner and I had a 6kw solar system installed through sungain back in august 2023, and we couldn’t be happier with how the whole process went right from the getting the quotes to the installation process. The company was very thorough with their products and systems that they used and the benefits we would get from having solar. Since installation we haven’t had any issues and the follow up care post installation has been brilliant. Great all round service and product quality, highly recommended!

Highly recommended!

Wasn't sure what model would be suitable for my needs IRT energy efficiency, Luke was very helpful with explaining the different options.

Customer service couldn't be better, there was a delay with installing the solar but they were very helpful with any issues that arised.

Good experience from start to finish, system working as promised.

This was our first venture into solar and I had many questions of the Sungain sales person at the initial consultation and afterwards. At no time did I sense that I was being pushed to make a decision or that I was being a pain. The system is not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but represented what I considered to be the best value for money.

All the relevant approvals etc were taken care of so the whole process was easy.

Apart from a few challenges getting connected to the inverter via the app, the system has been faultless since installation and delivers the output expected when I have a load such as the AC to fully utilise the generated power.

Would love to have a battery to capture the generated power rather than it go unused but batteries just don't make economic sense to me yet.

Will gladly use Sungain for any subsequent solar power requirements.

Very helpful installer, system is working well

Sales team were very helpful, provided several different options and explained pros/cons of each, then went and found a slightly different model of inverter & smart meter that provided extra features I was looking for.

The Install was scheduled very quickly, the installers arrived on time, got everything installed cleanly. There was one configuration issue with the smart meter, they were back within a couple of hours and had it working perfectly.

They took care of all of the provider paperwork and meter upgrade.

Extremely smooth experience throughout. The system has been running for about 18mo now without issue.

Great Service, Good Company, Highly Recommend

It's been a year since we installed Sungain Solar. Their quote was very reasonable and the customer service from initiating contract was very professional.

Their installers were very professional - arrived on time, checked details with us in respect of panel locations and installed the 6.6kW system in a timely manner. The pricing was very reasonable.

Full instructions about the system and the inverter were also given at the end, including assistance with connecting the smart monitoring via the Fronius app.

We have no hesitation in recommending Sungain Solar.

Great service

I had my solar panels installed about 12 months ago with sungain. They were one of 3 companies that were sent to me via solar quotes. They were mid range for pricing but I felt comfortable with the staff and their knowledge of the products. Even after I signed the contract and paid the deposit they offered me a a new style or brand of panel or inverter that was actually cheaper than the original quote. They kept me updated on the progress. It all happened with very little effort from me.

Sungain makes sure you’ll gain from the sun!

We have a 13.3kw system installed by Sungain in 2022. Quote was prompt, online and clear. Excellent customer service, informed us of the process from begin till end. Some startup issues have been dealt with promptly. AusNet was a bit slow with the whole process which is not Sungain fault. Pleasure to deal with. Haven't paid next to nothing for electricity from the grid since! Happy customer...

Not impressed

The whole process started off ok, with the sales person being quite helpful, albeit quite pushy and pressuring me to place an order straight away once the quote was received. I placed an order and paid a deposit on 24 October 2023 for a 10Kw solar system, 10 Kw battery and heat pump HWS and was told installation should be completed before the end of December. On checking just before Christmas I was told the lead time was now 6-8 weeks and that the Xmas/NY break added another 3 to 4 weeks to that time frame. My installation was only just completed last Wednesday 6 March 2024.My SolarVic government rebate approvals also had to be extended as they were due to expire which would mean re-applying all over again. I had a phone call on 27/2/24 stating the installation would commence the next day. Short notice I thought, but was happy to at least get things started. However on double checking that the install included solar panels, battery and HWS I was told that the company was having trouble sourcing the HWS and that would be done at a later date. As the installation of the solar panels necessitated the removal of our existing solar HWS from the roof I told the caller that everything needed to be installed at the same time otherwise we would be without hot water until the new HWS was received and installed. He seemed surprised at this and said he would check again with the supplier. Another phone call 4 hours later informed me they had sourced a HWS and would be starting installation on 4 March 2024. The installation process took 3 days with 3 electricians not arriving until 11am each day. An apprentice put his foot through our ceiling while in the roof space which will cost over $1,700 to repair. (this amount was deducted from our payment to Sungain) The installers also cut through the roof sarking during installation and when I queried why this happened I was told that was the only way to do it and that the sarking would be repaired before the colourbond roof panel was replaced. On checking this the next day the sarking had NOT been repaired and the roof panel had been replaced. The sarking was eventually repaired. The HWS was EXTREMELY heavy and had apparently been loaded onto the installers truck with a forklift (it was on a pallet) However NO thought was given as to how it would be unloaded with no lifting equipment available at our address. It took 3 electricians, 1 plumber and 2 of us to get it off the truck and into position and it was a miracle the unit wasn't damaged in the process. The HWS seems to be working well so far. I have some queries about the output of the solar panels as the mobile app shows that the panels are only producing up to around 450w at any given time? I would have thought such a large system would produce more than that? The app also shows that the battery is fully charged but when usage in the household increases or when the sun has gone down there is no power coming from the battery into the house, it all seems to be coming from the grid which to my mind defeats the purpose of having a system with a battery? All in all the whole process has been unprofessional and very frustrating. I would definitely not recommend Sungain to anyone considering purchasing a solar system

Sungain Solar Perth - a pleasure to deal with

The sales/quoting process was well explained by Annie Curwen, who provided a lot of detail and answered all queries quickly and knowledgeably. Several combinations of solar panels and inverters were suggested, with the differences in specification and price clearly explained.

Unfortunately for the installers, the installation date was set for a Saturday which also happened to be the first day of a heatwave. To beat the heat they turned up an hour earlier than scheduled; thankfully my son was awake and woke me up so I could let them in. The workers were efficient, polite and tidy. Various suggestions for placement of the solar panels were discussed and additional circuit breakers had to be installed. We had several spare roof tiles on standby to replace breakages, but nothing was broken and the spares reamin

Quick install - customer service post Install not so good

The sales process was very good. Had a good salesman. They even bought forward our install date which was really good and installation went ahead pretty much without problem. The only issue we seem to have since installation. The customer service has been lacking with not replying to emails when I have questions. The inspection took two weeks and only seemed to happen because I chased it up so that’s when we got connected to the grid. I spoke to AGL after received my first bill, and they said I wasn’t getting Feeding tariffs I’ve tried to contact my company by email and no luck. No replying so post insulation there are customer service team is pretty average

LOCAL TRADES USED TO INSTALL. GOOD JOB.

MY MOTO IS "ALWAYS DELIVER BETTER THAN YOU PROMISE"
IN THIS CASE, EVERYTHING WENT TO PLAN, EXCEPT THE COMMISSIONING OF THE UNIT, WHICH TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS EVEN THOUGH THEY PROMISED IT WOULD ONLY BE 2 TO 3 WEEKS. I HAVE MISSED OUT ON THE FEED IN TARRIFF FOR THAT PERIOD BECAUSE OF THE DELAY.

Sales process was fine but installation delayed

We only received 1 quote (on 26/9/23), from Sungain Solar, but they completed the documentation within a couple of days. On 4/10/23 they advised that installation would be 2-3 weeks from approvals. On 13/10/23 ( and again on 25/10 and 31/10) they advised that all approvals had been done. Then silence until 6/12/23 when they advised installation would be 31/1/24. So too soon to comment on installation or performance..

Great installation, excellent price...average customer service!

Pros:
- The installation itself was neat at the end, and reasonably quick (within 2-3 weeks)
- Attention to details was great by the installer.
- The initial admin part was good, as was the initial communication and quoting process.
- Price was competitive.

Cons:
- An unexpected surprise on the installation day; some panels in the design did not fit the roof space! The designer was not responding to our calls in the morning, which caused a 2 hour delay and stress. The company wanted to charge me $250 for this, but the waived it after explanation!
- It took some time and fiddling to commission the Fronius inverter, as the installer (contracted) was not very experienced with the new Gen24!
- the smart meter was not commissioned at the same time the inverter was. I needed to spend some time with Fronius customer service to do that myself!
- No explanation with the set up/ mobile app/ how everything works ..etc. It's good I did some research and had some knowledge of everything!
- Late response to my emails in the weeks after my installation.


In Summary, the installation job itself was great with competitive pricing. There were few hiccups along the way that were really avoidable, and after sales customer service could be better. I would recommend with caution.

Sales was excellent, answer all my questions and things progressed through to the installation stage.
The rebate was approved, the deposit paid but still no installation, just excuses. It is more than two months and still no progress.

Remarkably Efficient Installer

From start to finish one of the most efficient companies I’ve encountered. Annie in sales was a pleasure to deal with, without being pushy. Installation was completed and the system fully functional within 3 weeks of signing up. During that time I was kept informed of everything happening behind the scenes.The installation was completed with the minimum of fuss by 3 very helpful courteous contractors.
Was very impressed with the other 2 Companies recommended by Solar Quotes (thanks Finn!), but couldn’t be happier with my final choice of Sungain Solar. Now to look forward to these lower electricity bills!

Under-performance of system & over-estimate of savings

My system was installed in March 2021. The company was pleasant to deal with, responding timely to queries and keeping me posted through the process. The system has been reliable and the quote was competitive.

Unfortunately, after reviewing the overall performance of the system (for more than 1yr), it has underperformed by more than 25% of what was estimated. In addition, when comparing the savings estimated in the quote, it is off by more than 45%. This significantly changes the proposed benefit & payback period of the install. Note - we also increased our electricity consumption during the day to increase the savings by using our own solar power (approx. 27c per kWh by not using grid power) and limiting the small return from exporting (approx. 3c per kWh offpeak, 10c per kWh peak).

Be sure to scrutinize the performance of your system and compare to what is quoted.

Working well

The sales process went well. This company was not pushy at all. It was unfortunate that the salesman said it would be about a week after approval that they would be installed but it actually took a month. The installation team were a bit untidy leaving bolts on the roof and plastic ties on the ground. We drink the water collected from the roof so we don’t want anything that may end up in the tank left there. The update of the meter was efficiently organised by the company.

Simple process

The Sun Gain team made the process as simple as possible and kept me quite well informed throughout. All the steps were laid out for me which made getting the rebate and interest free loan easy.

Only points to improve upon are the number of different people that contacted me via email could have been streamlined and they didn’t notify me that the parts would be dropped off the day before installation. Luckily someone was home.
