Based in Victoria's San Remo, Island Energy has been designing and installing grid-connect solar, battery and off-grid power solutions for small businesses and home owners on the Mornington Peninsula since 2009. The firm also installs EV chargers and heat pump hot water systems.

Installed but not connected
Sales\quote was fine & I accepted Island Energy's quote.Installation was completed on the 3rd Nov 2025 by Suntech solar.
Installer showed me how to use the app & answered my questions about the inverter, all seemed ok.
About a week later the inspector came & gave the all clear for the install.
However, I am STILL NOT connected to the grid. The only reason I know that I'm not connected is because United Energy sent me an email saying that they had received my preapproval application from Matthew Jenkinson, I contacted UE & they told me they were waiting on an additional form from the installer. I contacted Kayleb at Island Energy because I wasn't sure what was going on. I thought I had already been connected. In the end the connections dept at Island Energy emailed me to say, it seems that there is a connection issue with the Sungrow S100 inverter. Due to this issue coming to my attention a week before Xmas & with businesses shutting down over this period, nothing can be done until everyone gets back in the office on 5th Jan. That will be 2 months since installation, and I am not receiving any benefit from my costly outlay for solar panels & inverter. I hope the connection issue is sorted out on 5th Jan. Disappointing introduction to solar energy.

This client experienced understandable frustration during the install process, largely due to a misunderstanding around the requirement for a completed grid connection before feed-in credits can be applied. While the solar system itself was installed, switched on, and operating correctly, the client believed it was not fully commissioned until the grid connection was finalised.Unfortunately, we encountered multiple emergency backstop compliance issues throughout the grid connection process. These were escalated through United Energy, and the system has only been successfully connected within the past week. We apologise for any inconvenience and will be here if any other issues or questions arise.

A great decision
Quotation was provided quickly with phone consultation to understand our needs and expectations.Installers were polite and efficient, maintaining a tidy and safe work environment. They walked me through the process of understanding the system and how to use the app.
All paperwork and connection details have been handled by them.
Simple trouble free installation
Island Energy were every good throughout the whole process and very patient! We can take a while to make decisions!Ended up with a great system although I wish we'd gone bigger on battery. We got 16Mwbut could easily have gone a bit more to cover winter (we haven't done a winter yet :-|)
