A message for Anna Bligh and Kevin Rudd: Start Stimulating Solar Energy!

Queensland local businesses in the solar energy industry have said that it is about time that the state of Queensland introduce the type of solar energy plan that is found in many places around Europe whereby households receive cash for the energy that their solar power system produces, that is distributed into the regular power supply, greatly encouraging the use of this greener, renewable energy source.

The companies are unanimously agreed that this is the only way to boost the currently tiny solar power industry in the state. With the current system as it stands, households in Australia only receive money for the extra power generated by the system that their household does not use, which then returns back to the electricity grid.

The new proposals argue that households should receive money for all the power generated by their solar energy systems, but currently only the ACT is committed to backing the plans.

In spite of having amongst the highest proportion of sunlight in Australia, the state of Queensland also has the lowest interest in solar energy, but on the bright side one company in the industry has recently won a contract to install over a thousand solar energy panels in homes across the state.

Currently, the vast majority of the population are not investing in solar energy. Having a gross feed-in tariff would make the upgrade far more attractive to most people. So please, Kevin Rudd and Anna Bligh, stop stimulating the Plasma TV and pokie industries with your cash handouts and start stimulating green energy!
