Bendigo Bank’s Australian-Made Solar Panel Rollout Continues

Tindo Solar - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank have been busy installing more solar panels manufactured in South Australia on the rooftops of the organisation’s buildings.

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank have previously pledged to purchase 100 percent renewable energy by 2025 and reduce absolute emissions 50 percent by 2030. As part of these goals, the organisation is in the midst of deploying solar power systems at a bunch of branches.

A total of 49 branch and office locations now have solar panels, with further installations scheduled before the end of this year. Just in the last month or so,  five branches – Benalla, Ballarat West, Coffs Harbour, Cobram and Wagga Wagga –  have had installations incorporating Australian-made solar panels from Adelaide’s Tindo Solar.

Bendigo and Tindo have pretty strong ties. The bank provided finance for Tindo Solar’s new factory in Mawson Lakes in Adelaide’s north, which was officially opened in May. The facility is currently cranking out Tindo’s 550 watt and 410 watt Karra solar panels.

“Partnering with local Australian companies such as Tindo aligns with our longstanding purpose of feeding into the prosperity of the community, not off it,” said Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Managing Director Marnie Baker.

Commenting on the relationship, Tindo Solar Chief Executive Officer Shayne Jaenisch, said:

“As Australia’s only manufacturer of solar panels, we’re proud to be associated with Bendigo Bank’s rollout of solar energy systems through its regional branches and offices, and by using Tindo Solar panels the bank is supporting Australian jobs and innovation.”

Inside Tindo Solar’s New Mawson Lakes Factory

Tindo’s facility is situated in Technology Park; a 65 hectare site located 12 kilometres north of the Adelaide CBD and adjacent to the University of South Australia’s Mawson Lakes campus.

Tindo Solar recently released a video showing some of the processes inside its new digs.

SolarQuotes founder Finn chatted with director and owner Glen Morelli late last year about the new facility and how pandemic impacts boosted demand for the company’s panels. It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good as they say.

Among its recent activities at the site, the company is in the process of installing a bunch of Karra solar panels on the rooftop of the factory – 222kW in total. The following is from a photo taken in late June showing part of the installation.

Tindo solar panels on new factory

Tindo Solar says by focusing on automation and the use of advanced robotics in the new factory, the company is able to produce a quality product that competes with the world’s best modules on price and performance. When it comes to competing on price, Tindo isn’t challenging some of the major players producing good quality budget panels. You can expect to pay more for Tindo.

Judging by Tindo solar panel reviews here on SolarQuotes, it seems many Australian households have been happy to do so to in order to get a solid, Australian-made product on their rooftops. At the time of writing, the 100 Tindo panel reviews and ratings on SQ had averaged 4.8 stars overall, and 5 stars over the last 12 months.

Tindo is currently listed as a SolarQuotes recommended solar panel brand.
