Your Suburb’s Solar Snapshot: Prices, Installers & Local Rules

Neighbourhood solar installer finder

If you’re thinking about installing solar, one of the first questions is usually, “Who’s a good installer in my area?” Closely followed by, “How much should I expect to pay?” and “Are there any local rules I should know about?”

To make those questions easier to answer, SolarQuotes has launched suburb pages covering locations across Australia. Each page brings together local installer reviews, average installation prices, network information and other useful details in one place.

Here’s a quick tour of how to find these pages and what you’ll discover once you’re there.

What’s On Your Suburb Page?

find your installer tool

Our local pages provide information on installers specific to your postcode.

The first thing you’ll notice is that this isn’t simply an installer directory. It also contains much of the information you’ll probably want before requesting quotes.

Finding An Installer. The page begins with installers servicing the suburb. You can click through to read each installer’s reviews or, if you’ve found a few you like, simply tick their names and click ‘Request Quotes From My Selected Installers.’ It’s a simple way to narrow down your shortlist without having to jump between multiple pages.

Average Prices. Next you’ll find the average price recently paid for solar installations in your postcode, together with the number of systems already installed locally. These figures are based on real systems purchased through SolarQuotes, giving you a useful benchmark when assessing prices. That can help you spot quotes that seem unusually cheap or expensive.

Payback Estimates. The page also estimates solar and battery payback for your suburb and explains some of the factors that influence those figures, including local electricity prices, feed-in tariffs, average sunshine hours and typical household electricity consumption. While every home is different, these estimates provide a useful indication of how the economics stack up in your area.

Local Information. Further down you’ll find information specific to your suburb where applicable, such as heritage considerations, followed by details about your local electricity network and any relevant connection requirements. These are the sorts of details that are easy to overlook until they affect your installation.

Recent Reviews. Towards the bottom of the page you’ll find recent reviews from SolarQuotes customers in your postcode area, giving you another opportunity to see what local homeowners had to say about their installation experience. Sometimes the most useful insights come from people who have recently been through the process themselves.

Or simply type ‘installers’ into the search bar at the top of any SolarQuotes page. ‘Find Installers Near Me’ should appear at the top of the results.

Once you’re on the installer hub, the easiest option is to type your suburb into the ‘Find solar installers that service your suburb’ search box.

Alternatively, you can browse recommended installers by state.

Find Installers main page

To navigate to the ‘Find Solar Installers’ page either 1) type the URL, 2) search ‘installers’ or 3) use the ‘tools’ menu. Once you’re there either 4) search your suburb/ town or 5) browse the best installers in your state (mobile view.)

More Than Just Suburb Pages

While most visitors will head straight for their suburb page, it’s worth backtracking to the Find An Installer page and exploring what else is there.

You’ll find information on solar installation costs, along with advice on avoiding the solar industry’s less reputable operators. Whether you’re trying to work out what solar should realistically cost or how to spot a shonk before signing a contract, both are worth reading before requesting quotes.

A Good Place To Start

Buying solar doesn’t have to begin with ringing installers or filling in quote forms.

A few minutes spent on your suburb page can answer a surprising number of questions before you’ve even requested your first quote.

If you’re considering solar, start with the Find An Installer page and look up your suburb.
