ABB (FIMER) Customer Service: 1800 769 663
ABB are a multi-billion dollar Swiss industrial giant that manufactured solar inverters (among other things) in China, Italy, the USA, South Africa and Slovakia.
Although they didn't quite achieve the brand recognition of SMA, I personally rated them as just as good! They had a reputation for reliability and great customer support, and as a bonus they tended to be a bit cheaper than an SMA.
Up to 2013, their inverters were known under the "Power One" brand, when Power One was bought out by the company. The move certainly didn't impact on quality, which remained high.
In July 2019, ABB announced it was exiting the solar inverter business, which Italian firm FIMER was to acquire. That acquisition process was completed in March 2020.
Headquartered in Vimercate, Italy, Fimer was founded in 1942 and started tinkering with inverter technology in 1983. This isn't really a new area it's moving into, but previously it was mainly focused on inverters for solar farms.
As you'll see from the ABB inverter reviews below, failures under ABB have very rare and there's nothing to suggest this will change under FIMER. This Italian stallion of an inverter gets the thumbs up from me!
ABB/FIMER Inverter Warranty Notes
FIMER is honoring all existing ABB inverter warranties.
In Australia, FIMER offers a ten year full replacement warranty on new single phase string inverters (REACT2 and UNO-DM range). FIMER three-phase string inverters come with a standard five year full replacement warranty, that can be extended to 10 years at an extra cost. Sometimes additional warranty may be included as a promotion or part of a solar package deal.
Are you having inverter problems? Your first action for having the issue resolved is to contact the installer who installed your FIMER solar inverter. That business has the responsibility of attending to any warranty related issues.
In a situation where the original installer is no longer contactable, for example, if the business has closed, FIMER advise customers should lodge an enquiry here including the requested details. Alternatively, they can contact the company's customer service team on the number listed above. Once the warranty claim has been validated, FIMER will arrange shipment of the replacement solar inverter and advise how to return the faulty inverter.
