Currently frustrated

A company representative visited our site on 5 August. He was very helpful and answered questions. I indicated our purposes for installing the system (a battery and additional panels), namely, to increase our reliance on renewable energy sources and to continue to have a power supply during power outages. I signed the contract on 5 August 2025. At that time, I was told the installation would be done in three to four weeks.
I phoned on August 27 to see how things were going. I was told there was a delay because of a shortage in the supply of batteries.
I received a call on September 23 while on holidays. They wanted to install on 26 September. I indicated there would be no one at our site on that day.
I phoned when I returned from holidays (Thursday, October 2) and the installation of the battery was arranged for the next day. I was told there would be no trouble with the panels and they would be installed the following week.

I received a call on October 3 to say the installer was delayed because of car trouble and he would turn up at 7:30am the next morning. As promised, he installed the battery on Saturday, October 4. He said others would come to install the panels the following week.

No one called to arrange a date for the panels, so I texted on Tuesday, October 7. There was no response, so I phoned the next day. I was told they would be installed the following week and that he would let me know what day by the end of the week. He did not do that.

I emailed on October 13 and received no reply. I phoned on October 14 and was told I would be informed of the installation date by the end of that day. That didn't happen. I emailed again on October 16.
The panels were finally installed on October 21. The panels installed were different from the original quote. I was told the panels we received were better.
The installer told us they had cracked a few roof tiles during the installation process. He assured us he had sealed the cracks.
We had a power outage on November 26. At this point, we discovered that the battery did not supply power to our house during power outages. The company representative told me that function was not part of the original quote. He said he asked about the frequency of power outages when he visited our site. I remember telling him that we had not had many power outages over the last few years.

However, the company representative did not tell me that because we don't have many outages he decided not to include that function in the quote. He said this could be rectified for an additional cost. I thought I had made clear to him during his initial meeting with me that one of our main purposes for installing the battery was to continue to have power when the grid had a power outage.

I asked if he could please arrange for this function ASAP. He said he should be able to arrange this for the following week. When that didn't happen, I again phoned. He told me he had people in our area the following week and it should be done then. When that didn't happen, I again phoned. He gave me the phone number for their installation manager. When I rang this, it went to voicemail. When I didn't get a return phone call by the next day, I tried again with the same result. I tried to phone the company representative again and the call went to voicemail. I have had no response to either calls or emails.
We are still waiting for this function to be installed.
We had a storm on December 13 and part of the ceiling in our garage collapsed because of the build-up of water in the roof. We were not home at the time. When I had a builder look at the roof, he indicated the problem was a broken ridge cap that could only have been broken by someone treading on it heavily, and some broken tiles and that the breaks were relatively fresh. The only people on that part of the roof in the last twelve months were the two people from Sungold who installed the tiles.
I indicated this in an email to the company representative and have had no response to that email.

Thus, we are dissatisfied for two reasons. First, we still don't have battery backup. This is especially significant during storm season, the time when we are most likely to have power outages. Second, we still have problems with the leaking roof in the garage.

Sungold provided a very competitive quote; answered my questions; organised installation in a short timeframe; and did an excellent installation.

Reasonable

A lot of my complaints would be down to the large number of battery instals being undertaken due to the subsidies, but:
1. Six week delay
2. Installer not familiar with the combination of Sungrow batteries and Enphase panels. Couldn't get the system to communicate. Spent 13 hours on site on day one, had to get advice and come back to complete work.
3. Installed a different model battery than the one in the proposal - SBH25, rather than SBR25.6. More easily upgradable, but should have asked.

Mainly, though, like other recommended installers of batteries and panels, they don't ask questions. They assume you have read all of Solarquotes.com.au, understand it and know what you want and need. The Hybrid inverter is 5kW, which may be too small for my system, especially running the ducted heating in the winter. We'll see. There has already been one small spike of grid energy use, even though the battery was full.

It might be that the heating will run the battery down, anyway, so I don't know if it will affect my bills.

Value for money plan

The sales and quoting was efficient and easy but I did think that they may have been optimistic about the payback time. They were also prepared to amend the plans from the initial quote to increase the size of my system.
The installation was punctual and neat. The only possible issue was that I had no way of disposing of the panels, I was going to get another company to remove them later and store them temporarily in my garage but the installer was reluctant to do this - I am not sure why but did offer to find somebody to take them away immediately. I think this might be a sideline for him.
At the moment I am not putting power back into the grid but I am waiting for a new smart meter to be installed and will see if this makes any difference. We are at least using about 97% of our own electricity now.

Am I being scammed?

I was promised (in october), after putting down a 10% deposit, the panels battery and inverter would be installed in November. however I have heard nothing yet. I have tried calling the guy multiple times but no call back.

Exceeded all expectations

The whole experience, from start to end, was professional, cost-effective, and executed perfectly. As someone with next to no knowledge of solar systems, I found Sungold incredibly helpful and responsive. From agreement to proceed to installation was around a week. The result is better than expected, and heading into a hot summer, the savings are immediate.

Decent Value.

The sales/quoting process was very quick and multiple install variants were provided.
We selected the 12Kw system with a 19Kw capacity battery.

The panels and inverter were installed 2 weeks after deposit was made, they were awaiting restock of the battery provided in quote. Installer team were professional and did decent work. Majority of trade waste was collected and disposed of. The running of cabling throughout roof space was done satisfactorily and installer provided photo's of roof penetration points and weatherproofing applied.

Grid connection was setup by the company quickly and promptly and we were up and running on solar same day as install.

Following Panel/Inverter install I received 0 updates about status of the restock of the battery. After requesting an update, we were asked to wait a few days for an answer. 2 weeks later we were provided with an alternative battery to be installed and price difference (more expensive) was covered by Sungold Solar.

from time of deposit accepted to time of battery installed was 8 weeks. Battery was installed by the installer and connected correctly and working. I had concerns with single insulated cables to the battery (plug is waterproof) but still exposed to afternoon UV. An unacceptable amount of trade waste remained at battery install site (dropped silicone, wire clippings etc.) and the warning labels stuck to the brick wall were secured with a small dab of silicone.

I requested the installers return to site to rectify the trade waste, which they did 6 days later apologising for the trade waste that remained left over. I asked the installer to give me a quick explanation on how to isolate the battery/panels if I require to do so in the future, which they did.

I plan on rectifying the warning labels myself (place onto a Perspex board and secure to the wall) and install a sun cover over the single insulated leads to protect from UV. I also plan on double insulating the leads running up to the battery myself with vulcanising tape and Denso.

Overall i am satisfied with the product even with some of the issues encountered throughout the process (trade waste, having to prompt for an update).

Quality product and installation!!!!

Sungold Solar made my battery installation journey incredibly smooth and enjoyable. I’m very satisfied with their service from start to finish. Mr. Sayed was outstanding in his communication and commitment throughout the process. The work was even completed ahead of schedule! I’m very happy with the installation and workmanship. The electrician was highly professional and clearly experienced, knowing exactly what he was doing. Honestly, I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Excellent value for money, professional service, and quality products

I recently engaged Sungold Solar (Ingleburn, NSW) to supply and install a 20kWh Alpha ESS Battery System with the Smile M5 inverter, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the service.

From the start, the team at Sungold Solar were responsive and transparent. They explained the system components in detail and answered all my questions promptly, both over the phone and via email.

The installation was done efficiently, with great attention to safety and neat workmanship. The installers were punctual, professional, and left the area tidy. They also took the time to walk me through the system’s operation, which was very helpful.

Great price, quality installation.

Quote was quick and competitive. I chose Sungold as I had a good experience with them when getting solar panels. Communication for arranging an installation date could have been a bit better, though I do understand there was a delay due to supply shortage.
Installation team was friendly and knew (and checked) all the legal requirements regarding fire safety etc for the proposed installation location. They made sure the system was working properly before getting me setup on the phone app to control the system.

Great installation company that I will certainly recommend!

Quoting process with information and on-site advice by Syed’s were excellent Any additionaly request of clarification was promptly provided. I obtained other 3 quotes from other companies, but Sungold’s price was cheaper, without renouncing to quality of equipment and installation. I particularly appreciated their 'can-do' attitude, which was refreshing compared to other companies that shied away when asked too many questions or in front of technical challenges. Their written contract was comprehensive. Installation was quickly organised , and their installation team was punctual, tidy and unphased by the height of the building, the challenges in access and the very windy day. Any on-site technical aspects were easily resolved, and the installation was professional and with neat and above expectations cabling. So far, solar production is excellent, as predicted, and without issues.

Very bad service

Don’t use SunGold solar. They took my deposit, wasted my one month and then advised them at they are incompetent to do the job. I had to follow up at least 10 times during the month to get the installation booked but everyone I was getting the same answer that they are too busy and would get back to us. Very poor service. Don’t waste your time with them.

Excellent Installation

Syed from Sungold Solar is very friendly and professional person, from start to end the process is very smooth . He had explained in detail about the options and cost very well . Installers are very punctual and polite and described about the installation plan and they also explained which is best direction for solar panels.

Syed has helped me with the process to change the meter also and he even followed up after few weeks also to check how everything is working .I am more happy recommend Sungold Solar with out any hesitation.

Solar goodness

Personal face to face service makes good business, and we were able to discuss what we wanted and come to a sensible deal.
The installers were very efficient, completing the task promptly, politely, tidily. The only delay in installation date was caused by the energy supplier being slow to give approval.
Customer service has been excellent in following up grid connection, having to contact the energy supplier on our behalf when they failed to come to work on the meter in due time. This matter now in the process of being resolved because of Sungold Solar’s intervention

Great service, quality product with timely installation

The quotation process was very easy and they were great to deal with. All information, email correspondence was provided in a timely manner and they made sure to remain in touch during and after the installation process. Syed provided phenomenal customer service, and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone currently in the market seeking quotes.

Good price and balance of system quality to match

The salesman Ameer was very nice and friendly plus professional. He helped us learn solar energy facts and encouraged us to investigate further.

Post signing into agreement some other parts of the customer service isn't so good. I got a call asking if I would like to continue to go with their offered system and was being given further quotes.

Notice around when installation was to occur and process wasn't very good I was suddenly given a couple of days notice.

Installation was done quickly, on-time and neat and tidy, people came were friendly and professional.

They have organised to have the energy company update the meter for solar.

Overall at times I questioned if we should have gone with them. But in the end it seems OK and happy with the system so far. Original ratings

It has really performed well, I would have liked to have gotten three phase setup to be able to export more to the grid as I generate a lot and use very little. I have been credit for all months so far except slightly under during winter but the few months prior to winter I gained enough credit. So I am well and truly in credit since the installation.

Professional and quick service

Sungold Solar installed the service within 3 days after i signed the contract. I was provided with adequate information and they responded my every queries very promptly. I also got a very good price for fronius 5kw inverter and trina 400w vertex after comparing about 10 quotes. I do recommend Sungold for your homes.
