Sun Select installation - Jinko panels and Growatt 10K inverter System was installed incorrectly about 2 years ago

Issues: I had to get an independent in to confirm why power was dropping out in the middle of the day in the first 12 mths. The system needed 3 strings to operate the 13kw panels. 2 strings installed initially caused the inverter to overload and trip power off which is why power kept dropping out in the middle of the day. I learned this simply because Sun Selects site tech pointed this out when they visited the house to inspect. Sun Select head office then subsequently denied this was a problem because 1) they only quoted on 2 strings under the contract and suggested I should have been aware and then hid behind contractors and 2) average monthly KWH output was still in range. (Ie they suggested monthly KWH solar was still in monthly output range so there was no issue for them to solve). I advised I was not a solar expert and how would I know if I needed 2 or 3 strings. After multiple ph calls and detailed emails to document the issue eventually Sun Select fixed most of the issues after I paid for an independent report which confirmed installation issues which did not comply with the code. Cables from panels still hang on metal roof and Sun Select will not fix them despite images being provided to them. I’ve sort of given up on that point. Customer services is generally trying to help but their mandate seems more linked to protecting Sun Select rather than their customers and they provide reasons they should not need to come out to inspect. If they do eventually consider sending someone out there position is to send the same contractor who did the poor installation in the first place as they see them responsible for it. I understand they they see this from their side but this makes little sense that the contractor checks their own homework. For that reason I had to get an independent in. I have some emails which make little sense from them if they are needed and my detailed reply but I write this review not to seek resolution for my remaining issue but more simply because I have little doubt others will have issues with them unless other forces provide them with a reason to change.

Sales guy was intense but very helpful. Price was not the cheapest but still seemed good value. The installers were very keen to do it the way I wanted and never tried to force me to do something I didn't want. I was very impressed with them. Installation was very fast from putting down a deposit, and once they set a date they stuck to it. I always felt like I had someone to talk to if I had any questions. They instigated the grid connection with my supplier.
The ONE thing I was nervous about was their 100% payment PRIOR to installation day. But it worked out fine and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks Solar Quotes you helped me a lot.

Installers were professional, punctual , tidy and finished on time without cutting corners. Panels look great and they are even arranging for a smart meter with my energy provider ...one less thing for me to worry about

Sales process was informative, not high pressure sales. Flexible sales with a range of ideas for the best system that would work for us from top of the range to affordable quality systems.
Installation team were punctual, professional, helpful, polite and willing to talk and answer any questions. Neat and tidy, and went the extra mile to ensure they maximised the system to meet the roof space. They ensured the roof was well looked after and not damaged during installation and are organising the grid connection. I would highly recommend Smooth Current Electrical and Solar.
