Greate experience with Lightning Energy

Jordan (Sales) was great at Lightning Energy, helping me through with great recommendations.

Installation date was provided and delayed by 2 days due to a late stocking issue but they kept me informed throughout which was appreciated.

Installation took 2 days and all my requests were taken care of (thanks Jordan the installer and Ben)

Battery install is up and running now and looking forward to the lighter months to really take advantage of it.

10 months later we asked Ryan: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

System has been outstanding, people have complained about the recall, but this was fixed promptly and with good communication.

Sigenergy has been an outstanding investment and now they are floated ita even better.

Battery Installs

Easy process from accepting quote to install.
Although I had a waiting period, (only to be expected with the mad rush for installs,) when they finally did organize a date, it was super quick and efficient.
Installers were polite and professional, and tidy.
Once turned on, it's like WOW, I should've done this years ago!!!
Saving money now!!!

Great price, great installers.

I dealt with Scott in SA to discuss what I wanted and get a quote through - unlike some others I got quotes from, Scott listened to my specific requirements and quoted a system that met them, and made sure to check things like circuit breaker type in the initial call so he could quote accurately.

Despite all the challenges with stock and installer availability, Scott stuck to what he'd said and got the install done before the end of the month (Including personally delivering the battery at 2PM on the install day after the shipment was delayed).

The installer (AC Watts Electrical and Solar) arrived bright and early with a large team to get the job done that day, and everyone was extremely friendly and professional.

Cameron ran through the install with me and explained all the switchboard changes clearly.

I went with 10.45kW of panels and a 48kWh Goodwe ESA battery stack.

Good Install and Bad Post install service

Sales and quoting process was fine. They were in a rush just prior to the rebates dropping last year.

Installation was seemed very good. It's neat and works well

Customer service seems bad. I have sent a couple of emails to try and get an alteration request done with my energy provider, but they go into a black hole. It's been over a month and I still cannot export anything to the grid.

Great service. Great product (GoodWe EHA Battery)

Scott was very knowledgeable and not pushy and have a variety of options and discussed the pros and cons of each. He genuinely seemed to want the best outcome rather than a quick sale.

We landed on a 48kwh GoodWe EHA battery which has been going great.

Installation was great. Hot day. Lots of hours but they were very polite and clean. I had an original installation date of end of Feb but they were able bring this forward a month to help me get the most out of summer.

Support has also been great with Scott acting as a conduit between myself and GoodWe to progress issues as fast as possible. He has direct lines to goodwe management which makes this very valuable.

While there have been some teething issues they are being resolved and I am being kept updated

Pretty Average Installer

Decided to go with these guys as a 'premium installer' on solar quotes recommendation with the price being the higher of the quotes.

What resulted is a pretty average installation. disappointed to find our new colourbond roof has scratches all over it including gutters. sliding rails up the gutters etc. they also took no care at all with the panels and most are scratched to the surrounds.

It was a real C team on this install. Have contact them numerous times to have them look at the issues without anyone to date coming out.

Overall would not recommend plenty of others out there.

Great Install Goodwe ESA 32kw

Scott from Lightning Energy SA was brilliant and efficient at providing a quote and happily and promptly answered all of my many questions. There was a little frustration at getting a firm installation date locked in, however this process happened over the Christmas New Year period so understandable.
Installation was on 3rd February using Trent Gill Electrical as a subcontractor. The installation was carried out in a highly professional manner, very clean, efficient and precise. At my request, Trent installed a timer for my Hot Water Service with a bypass switch that can be used to draw from the controlled load if ever required.
The batteries were connected to my existing solar PV via my existing Fronius inverter

Fantastic - Highly Recommend

I got Solar Panels with Battery and Hot Water System Installed

The sales and quote process was great, I was well informed of options available and clear prices with assistance throughout the process.

The installation was great, both of the teams were efficient and thorough and kept me informed about the process and time length of jobs

I highly recommend them, they did great work and I am extremely happy with my new Hot Water System and Solar Panels and Battery!!

Not just for cost/benefit but for the environment too!

The salesperson (Kale) took the time to help me understand some aspects I didn't completely follow. He made himself available a number of times to clarify questions and to modify the proposal and the quote.
The installation was delayed by a week due to another customer requirement, which was disappointing - but they had actually brought forward the initial installation date by a month, so I'm actually happy. (It's just frustrating to see all that sunshine going to waste at 0.003 c/kwh for a week. :-)
The team (Min and Keon) arrived on time and were very competent and kept me informed throughout. They clarified matters to make sure I would be happy with every aspect of the installation. Min took me through the configuration and the installation of the app on my phone and made sure I understood.
Very excited to have a household battery and EV charging station.
I now just have to wait for the inspector to come and provide a certificate of electrical compliance.

Quick, knowledgable, relevant and helpful

Knowledgeable sales people, coupled with efficient, understanding and patient installers made these guys really good in my book.

Answered all my questions and made sure we got the correct system for the house (Grid connected, but outage backup and off-grid capable, connected to a pre-installed 16Kw solar system).

Approachable and understands what I need

My installer was approachable and easy to talk to. They understand that I have done my research and know what I want. The good thing is they have provided a system that is right on my price point, compared to other quotes I got. Install was done on time and was advised on several things too along the way. Once the installation was complete, they have arranged the inspection and that went smoothly. The pending item is the grid connection and configuration of my smart meter so that I can start tracking my exports. They have advised me that this will be done in the background and will provide an update once that is done. For now, this is to be confirmed, but overall the install went great.

P.S. the battery is a bit too close to the gateway but I dont plan on adding another module so this is OK for me.

Worst experience

We chose Lightning Energy from Solar Quotes recommendation. We were happy with the details provided by the salesman.
The installer arrived on site and placed some 75% of the solar panels on our roof and installed the battery. Then he left and didn't come back!
After contacting Lightning Energy many times a replacement installer came after 2 weeks delay.
This was a very stressful time and the joy of installing solar disappeared. After 6 weeks we now have an operating solar system. The initial interview with the salesman said the install would take 2 days not 6 weeks. After the installation was finished the Solar inspector took 2 weeks to come and sign off on the works.
We now have a leaking roof which we have been advised that its not to do with the installation. We have lived at this address for 35 years without any roof leaks!
i cannot recommend this company.

In this case, we were let down by an employee whose conduct fell well below our expectations. This resulted in delays that should never have occurred. We have since reviewed and corrected our internal processes to ensure this cannot happen again.

We also understand how frustrating the overall timeline became, especially when you were originally advised the installation would take only a couple of days. We sincerely apologise that this wasn’t your experience.

Prompt and efficient

We were looking for a battery option to add to our existing solar panels whilst the Gov rebate was available. Had a quote from above vendor and used Solar Quotes to try compare apples with apples. Apart from being based locally, the price point was better overall, the extras seem to swell the bottom line (upgraded RCD's, cement sheeting etc) a lot more with the others.
Due to the high demand, we were advised early Jan was the due install date, 3 months after accepting the quote which we were OK with. Being retired, had prepared the proposed battery site for the install including fitment and painting of the cement sheet (requirement for a weatherboard wall). As it turned out, this was beneficial, a cancellation of another job meant ours was now implemented on 06 Nov (albeit at very short notice). Install went well, couple of little detail niggles from my perspective but nothing dramatic. Inspector arrived a couple of days ago, did his checks and and gave it the nod, certificate arrived on the weekend so now up and running.
Due to a relatively narrow location, opted to make up a barrier to shield the battery from impact - ie passing bikes, grandkids, wheelie bins, wheelbarrow etc - adapted a standard alum garden fence panel, just not sure about the colour just yet
In a nutshell - it all went well from quote (thanks Jordan) to install (thanks Caitlin) with all the background stuff happening seamlessly (thanks Lightning Energy Team)

Excellent service

We met at their showroom and went through the options and the most suited system. Not being tech minded the rep explained the system in plain language and how it would work.
The installation was done earlier than expected due to a cancellation. The rep also came on site to check in that all was in place.
After being inspected, the system has been operating , with no imports of power.
Perfect!

Lightning Energy were great to deal with

The salesperson could not have been more helpful & had fantastic knowledge of products, comparisons, etc.
The installation date was moved up 2 months, due to delay at another customer and our equipment was in stock.
The installer was very knowledgeable and put in extra time to sort through some legacy issues in our switchboard, which would otherwise have caused issues at inspection.
Inspection happened within a week after installation, with only 1 minor issue, which was fixed the next day.
Overall, we are delighted with the whole process.

It started with Andrew in sales, he listened to what I wanted to achieve and provided a very competitive quote. They then managed to squeeze my install in to meet my schedule. Happy I got solar installed

From start of the process to the finish I was very happy with lightening energy. The fact of the company having a show room so we could see the different range of panels & inverters before we chose which ones we wanted was good.
Kale never pushed us to have a battery or get the biggest system just advised us the options. Although we had to wait 6 weeks to get it installed & didn’t receive notification the day before install the guys turned up on time & did a fantastic job completed in 1 day. I would recommend this company just because Min, Greg & the rest of the team explained what they were doing and how the system works & left the premises clean. etc.

Excellent Service from Start to Finish

The sales and quoting process was quick and well-organized. Blake, the project manager, was responsive and transparent throughout, promptly providing all the information I requested. He clearly explained the technical aspects of my existing solar PV setup and walked me through the options for retrofitting it with a solar battery and additional panels. Everything was communicated in simple, easy-to-understand terms — perfect for someone without a technical background.

Communication was smooth and efficient, with timely responses via SMS and email. The quote I received was competitive compared to other solar battery retailers and installers.

The installation process was just as well-managed. From scheduling the date and time to outlining the prerequisites ahead of the installation day, everything ran smoothly. The installation team arrived on time, conducted themselves professionally, cleaned up thoroughly afterward, and made sure I had plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the service and would confidently recommend them to anyone considering solar upgrades.

Good value and gear

The sales process was fast, and responsive to my variations of requests. No pre-sale site visit was conducted. I purchased during the battery stampede of 2025, so there were some expected delays in installation. Overall the installation was fast (2 days for 11kw panels and Sigen battery). There was limited communication around COES inspection and follow-up to get a minor defect fixed. If you need to contact them, call on the phone, do not leave messages/emails.

I would recommend them to friends looking to get a quote for solar/battery.

Great installers

The installer was very helpful and enthusiastic. I almost chose another company and let them know but then went back to Lightning Energy and they showed the same enthusiasm and gave me a price that the other company said they couldn't match for a great product. They gave me an installation date mire than a month away but slotted my job in much sooner. The installation went smoothly and looks fantastic. A minor issue with the way the site was left was resolved quickly and I am currently waiting for the final inspection and for the battery to go live.

Great to deal with!!

System works great, boys were on time and did a fantastic job, as always. I have used them 4 times now for different jobs, batteries, solar etc and they have been great to deal with. 2nd time around - just as good!

I originally got on to Lightning Energy from solar quotes and my initial install was a solar + battery system. The team were professional, the install was great, and the house was left clean afterwards. Since I have had it installed it has worked without issue - since Oct23.

I have now had Lightning Energy out for a second time to install 2 x PW3’s to the system, and relocate my PW2 battery to a family members system - and we again couldn’t be happier, good team, good installers, and again the area’s were left clean and tidy afterwards.

Would recommend, and will be looking to use them again in the future.

The worst after sales service i've ever seen.

Numerous problems with the installation, and absolutely no resolution for any of the problems that have surfaced since.

Sigenstor battery installed, existing solar and EV charger.

Asked that the charger be separate from the battery so that I could charge the car without it pulling from the battery.
However if I push "boost" on the car charger the energy comes from the battery. Have emailed numerous times and no response apart from "that's odd, that shouldn't happen". No follow up at all.

The gateway was bolted to a brick wall, but two of the bolts went into mortar instead. I was working next to and bumped it, and the bolts have come loose leaving it wobbling about.

I asked for a rear cable entry for the gateway so the installers drilled a hole in the back then decided they couldn't do it. They were going to leave it like that but I said it should be sealed - which they did with a bit of cardboard! I don't think this is IP54 rated anymore.

An ethernet cable was run from the battery to my network and it runs directly touching a 10kW cable for its full length. There is supposed to be a min. 50mm gap between these cables.

The customer care line is almost never answered. When it is the request goes into a black hole.

If you value your time and want to be sure you'll be looked after never deal with this company.

Zero after sales support

Once the installation is completed, you will not be able to request any support unless it is for another sales lead. When called to enquire about replacing a faulty inverter; their response was no we are not providing that support. Contact the manufacturer. That's it nothing else.

Genuine 3P solar battery and backup

Wanted a solar battery to add to existing solar installation for a 3P house.
Sales/Quoting seem-less, appeared good value for what I was getting
Number of meetings including a home visit to nut out details.
Installation took 2 guys 1.5 days to complete. Awaiting final inspection to turn on.

Professional and Friendly service with Quality Installation

The service is professional from the first step into the showroom. Kale provided exceptional service and advice. He answered all my questions about the solar battery, explained the various brands and help me to pick the most suitable system according to our situation. The quatation was seamless and detailed. Multiple quotations were provided for comparision. Kale also gave the professional assistance to pick the battery and gateway location during site visit.

Installation team was professional and arrived on time. They explained the job stage-by-stage. They performed beyond expectation by managing to wire everything in the wall without cutting out the plasterboard. They also cleaned up the garage after they completed the job. App was set up and they deomtrated the platform.

Kale follows up after the installation and explain the process after installation.

I would definitely recommend Lightning Energy. A++++

Poor communication and customer service

Installation was good but post sales experience has been extremely poor.
I have had a Powerwall 3 and solar panels installed. I am still waiting for the post installation documentation to be supplied to the energy supplier. I have been following this up monthly since February with little to no response. The responses I have received say they are waiting for software updates and it will be a few days. I am yet to receive a response to the email I sent on 2nd June. The company has never proactively contacted me to explain about the delays and when they will be resolved. It isn't easy to find out who to contact to resolve issues. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the post sales customer service.
