Very happy with the battery installation

We recently had a battery installed to our existing solar system. Essential solar's quoting process was of very high quality. The installer was punctual, and friendly and did a great job.
We are very happy with what they did.

PowerWall 3 Install

Essential Solar, as usual, did a great job on the whole process. From quoting to installation to grid connection all went smoothly and the final install looks great!
I have used Essential Solar three times now, Solar Panel, Heat Pump Hot Water and now the Battery, No complaints on any of them, everything was well organised and kept me informed along the way.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them!

Excellence from Start to Finish

It is rare for me to have no reservations about a business enterprise but Essential Solar is an exception. I received excellent service from my first contact with the company to the installation of a solar battery.
Derek answered a long list of detailed questions I submitted, clarifying the technical aspects of the operation of my hybrid solar system. Other companies gave partial answers or ignored my questions. His support was key to my decision to engage Essential Solar.
Edmond provided excellent support in relation to the financial aspects of the job.
The young crew led by Caitlin installed the battery and gateway with great proficiency and care, and ensured we were familiar with the intricate operations of the system, and the use of the mySigen App. By the way, it is a brilliant App, providing so much data in a very user friendly format. Thanks Essential Solar.

Great installer from start to finish.

From the time of initial quote request, Essential Solar were helpful, professional and accommodating with our availability for installation times. There was no rush to decide on final configuration and sizing and option for partial or full back up. Installation was neat and sensibly positioned.

Essential Solar Battery Install

We had solar panels installed several years ago and recently decided to fit a battery while significant rebates were available. Very happy with this installation. Sales/quote was straightforward. There was a delay of a couple of months between acceptance of quote and install because of supply issues for equipment.
Customer service was very good. The install crew arrived on time and left the site in a clean and tidy state.
All necessary permits and connections were handled by the contractor without any issues.

Essential Solar

Very disappointing experience adding a battery to my existing system through Essential Solar from start to finish. What should have been a straightforward process dragged out to over six months from signing the contract to installation, largely due to ongoing stock delays that were never clearly explained up front.

Communication was consistently poor. I had to chase updates multiple times, and the staff were unable to clearly explain what the issue was or what was being done to resolve it. There was also no pre-install walkthrough, which made the whole process feel disorganised and unclear once I finally got to installation.

On top of that, I ran into billing issues that added even more frustration. Overall, the lack of transparency, coordination and follow-through made this a stressful experience. I wouldn’t recommend them based on my experience.

We want to acknowledge that the delays and lack of clear communication you experienced are not the standard we aim to deliver and we should have done better.

Whilst there were ongoing industry wide supply challenges with battery availability, we completely understand that this should have been communicated more clearly and proactively throughout your project.

The further delays resulting in your battery taking so long to install are a direct result of SolarEdge continually delaying promised dates, which in turn, further delayed your installation. We were promised dates which of course also frustrated us, as we're unable to finalise installations. We of course cannot advise of something up front if the advice to us is the stock will be available in the timeframe expected. This has now been resolved by SolarEdge and supply is readily available.

It’s also disappointing to hear that you felt unsupported during the process and that key steps, such as the pre-install site inspection, being missed. From my understanding, it wasn't missed, it was noted that we had enough information to carry this task out on the day of installation (considering it's a battery install to existing system). Our operations team advised that on the day of installation that our install team reviewed suitable positions, discussed, confirmed and documented before carrying out the actual works. I believe the location of the battery and backup box are in approved locations.

I also understand we did not install the original system and that monitoring access for you was limited, which has now been resolved from what I can see. The system appears to be operating as it should be.

Your feedback is valuable. We will review our internal processes to ensure better coordination and a smoother experience for our customers moving forward.

Great company to deal with

Receive my quote after speaking to Derek who supplied 3 quotes of which I was happy to chose one. Company was was helpful throughout, including giving detailed info about the design and layout of my solar system. They constantly in contact with every step from design to installation. The sub-contractor who installed the system was very good and removed my older system then installed my new one which also included a battery. They arrived on time and by late afternoon had completed the job. Omar, after finishing, explained all about the system and how to operate the battery. He connected the system to the grid and on the day and it has been working well since. We were very happy with the company and installer. Plus also with our new Solar/battery system as it provides exactly what we were wanting to achieve.

Return business to Install 20Kwh Enphase batteries with Essential Solar

The Enphase IQ 5P FlexPhase batteries are not budget batteries, and they come with a 15 year warranty. Having said this, the quoting process was a series of calls, where information was sent, I could read up on the material, with an eventual decision probably 3 weeks later (20KwH). My delay in decision pushed installation to post Christmas. At no time did Derek rush me to sign up or miss out etc. I felt no pressure.
Installation arrived, and their vehicles were out the fron at 7:45am ready to go. Installers checked details, let me know what would be happening with power during the day, and were courteous throughout the install. It was great that the team inculded a female sparky running the cabling and doing all the important connections.
Importantly at the end of the day, all the safety information was shared, the material for the electrical safety person was put in a place where they could access it, and some effort to clean up the site was done. (with the exception of a little dust from drilling through mortar. I was shown on my app how to monitor the system and felt educated. All the grid connection details were handled by them, so all I had to do was wait and have the switch turned on. See the attached photos from install day.

Looking for an Australian owned Solar company with a shop front and a track record

In late 2023 I was looking for an Australian owned Solar installation company with a shop front and a track record it took a while to find a company with my requirements I finally found EssentialSolar in Tullamarine Melbourne 3043, they gave me a completive quote for 6.6kw Solar PV system with 15x Ja 440 Double glass panels and Goodwe GW5000-DNS-30 Inverter installed in December the Installation went well with no problems it has been working great.
In 2025 the govt said they would be giving Solar Battery rebates, so I enquired about them at EssentialSolar they gave me a quote for a Goodwe GW5000N-EH Plus Hybrid Inverter and a Goodwe LynxLX F19.2H-20 Battery classed as a 20KW Battery the company installed the battery and inverter on the 1st July 2025 with their experience the installation went without a problem we have now had the battery for nearly 20 weeks it has worked great on average we use app 30-35% a night sometimes higher our electricity bills are 0.
After the installation they organised the grid connection and showed us how it operated, the Goodwe app on mobile phone and ipad works well.
EssentialSolar is an Australian family owned company started in 2012 13years ago they have an honorable track record in the Solar industry anyone looking for a Solar company I would recommend them as experience and knowledge in the Solar industry their employes are tops.

Hassle free

6 x men arrived on time to install a 4.4 Kw solar system on a 2 x story townhouse. They were all very friendly, courteous and polite. Installing an A-Grade system with A-Grade electricians. It only took about 4 hours to complete and they left the site neat and tidy afterwards. I would highly recommend Essential Solar. It's been hassle free from beginning to end.

10 out of 10 for Essential Solar

Essential Solar earns a perfect 10 out of 10 from me for outstanding customer service, streamlined processes from start to finish, and safe, high-quality workmanship throughout an impressively efficient solar system installation.

My research:
I was new to the current Government rebate program, which was a HUGE motivation to consider going solar and optimising my investment. So over 3-4 weeks I viewed SO MANY of the adverts, videos, recommendations out there, and asked heaps of questions to experts, friends and family who had actual experience. Being careful is so important, there are risks, even scams out there! (The SolarQuotes website was very helpful to me)

My conclusions & plan:
1. CHOOSE tested, proven and recommended products
2. CHOOSE a recommended installer with a 1st class record
3. DO your homework in selecting product size and configuration
4. QUOTES are very helpful, ensure comparing apples with apples
5. KEEP RECORDS documents and photos, of the whole process

My Experience with Essential Solar:
Every contact was professional and respectful. It started with the Salesman’s visit focussing on my specific needs, then my allocated customer service contact whose prompt responses to my many questions gave me great confidence and showed flexibility as well. Input from technical experts during design was impressive, and finally a safe, qualified and efficient installation team of 5 were fully organised and did a great job in 5 hours! Even the General Manager took time to speak with me to achieve the very fair price at the start. (Essential Solar are a highly recommended installer by SolarQuotes)

Project timing:
The Essential Solar salesman said installation would be in 2-3 weeks, and it was! As expected, the electrical inspector came 10 days later to check and commission it, and now it is all working amazingly, no glitches and free power!

The products:
I selected 21 x JA Solar Bifacial PANELS and a TESLA Powerwall 3 BATTERY. I chose to back up only the power and lighting circuits, and the battery is installed outdoors, as it's rated for external use, and positioned in a shaded and sheltered location for added protection.

Final comment:
I absolutely recommend Essential Solar to do an awesome solar project… again 10 out of 10.

PS: Making this big decision with confidence right from the start felt great, and now that the project’s done, it’s even more satisfying to know it was the right call.

Fooled

System and installation ,top quality work.
$28000 system with battery.
This is not my first solar and battery system.
Then came the disappointment.
Power failure
No battery backup
Called Essential Solar, sorry you did not pay for that additional system it’s in your contract.
Well it’s also in their flashy advertising material in big letters:
No grid
Life goes on
They tell me it’s a huge misconception that a battery gives you backup.This is what is expected from a solar/battery in my and I’m sure any persons opinion:
Helps save the planet
Saves you money
Smile when there is a power failure
I now feel scammed, disappointed, embarrassed and foolish for trusting a company.
Do we all read our apple terms and conditions, no, we expect what’s normal not a up selling system.

What a great company to deal with, and they're local

Essential Solar need to be commended on the professionalism and efficiency with which they handled my solar installation.

Their price was competitive, and Sam also reviewed the system and made a generous contribution, through no pressure from my end. Purely because he saw that an extra panel was needed to make the most out of the installation.

It took 2 weeks from quote acceptance to being able to turn on the system, which is pretty fantastic, considering the amount of paperwork and coordination that no doubt needs to be done in between.

They were understanding of my needs and requirements, and listened to my questions, and answered them honestly. I had some queries about placing some panels on the opposite facing roof, and they were willing at every point to discuss this and come back with reviews based on my query. And their installer was extremely courteous and professional in my dealings with him on the day. This was alongside a previous smaller solar installation that has been sitting on the roof for a while now.

To top it all off, they are a local company, which has left me with more than a touch of feel good about doing my part. Keep up the great work team

A very Smooth Process

I recently had a solar panel and battery system installed in an outer Melbourne suburb. The whole process from initial inquiry, to paperwork, to government rebates request, to the day of installation all went extremely smoothly, with no problems at all.

My system has been up and running for a few weeks now, and seems to be working perfectly.

Attention to detail

Some companies quote over the phone for solar installation, without even visiting your property. Some don't even look at your energy usage pattern. Euan from Essential Solar visited our home and was very thorough in working out the best system for our home. The installation process was straight forward and the installers were polite and tidy. They listened to our request to leave some distance between the upper windows and the solar panels as we knew we needed to replace the windows in the future. Essential Solar provided an app to monitor solar generation and energy usage. They also helped us with the solar rebate. The system installed is battery ready and we hope to install a battery in future.

Professionals, very impressed with the installation and service.
