Australia’s Best Solar & Battery Installer In 2026 Revealed

Australia's best solar installer in 2016RESINC Solar & Batteries has been recognised as Australia’s best-rated solar installer for the second year running.

The NSW-based company accepted the Customer Choice Award on stage at SolarQuotes’ Installer Night on Tuesday, October 27 at Melbourne’s Showtime Events Centre.

Who Is Australia’s Best Solar & Battery Installer?

RESINC has its headquarters in Wyong on the NSW Central Coast. It installs solar and batteries across NSW, Queensland, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory.

The company secured the Customer Choice Award for 2026 by being the top-rated installer on the SolarQuotes platform, which features over 100,000 Australian reviews.

For the award, SolarQuotes applied a weighted system based on reviews from September 1, 2025 to September 1, 2026, so smaller installers have a fair chance against larger ones.

Any installer with a SolarQuotes review listing and at least 15 reviews in that time could qualify, even if they aren’t part of the SolarQuotes network. The seven eligible state and territory winners then competed for the national title – RESINC was also recognised as the top NSW installer.

Currently, RESINC has a 5.0-star average from 3,644 ratings on its SolarQuotes review page. Out of those, 3,550 are five-star reviews.

It is hard to maintain such high ratings as a business grows, and this year was challenging for the industry as a whole with the intense demand from the federal battery rebate. After their win, Leigh Storr, founder of RESINC, told SolarQuotes:

“It’s been a big year for everyone in the solar industry. I think a lot of teams have doubled in size over the last 12 months, which makes it even more challenging to maintain that standard and level that you hold high.”

RESINC’s solution is a dedicated proactive care team. While most companies only respond when customers reach out, RESINC’s team contacts customers first: during the first month after installation, when the first electricity bill arrives, and then over the next five, seven, or ten years.

“The whole purpose of that team is looking to add more value to our customers at every step of their journey,” Storr said.

Customers notice the difference. Barry, who has had a 6.6 kW RESINC system for six years, said in his review that “everything is working as it should” and that he appreciates the company checking his system every year. Coral, a customer since 2023, says RESINC has been “very good at keeping in touch,” even checking on her energy plan.

Customers also praised RESINC’s after-sales care when it won last year.

The State And Territory Winners

The seven state and territory winners, announced on the SolarQuotes blog in September and October, were the finalists for the Customer Choice Award:

No Northern Territory installer reached the 15-review minimum, so there was no NT winner this year.

What The Best Installers Will Offer Next

Beyond the awards, the Installer Night also featured insights from Finn Peacock, founder of SolarQuotes, who told the audience that roughly 14% of Australian solar homes now have a battery.

He noted that this is close to the 16% figure from Geoffrey Moore’s technology adoption book, Crossing the Chasm. In Moore’s model, innovators and early adopters make up about 16% of the market, and the “chasm” is the gap between them and the more cautious mainstream.

“You’ve got to sell differently to this cautious majority than the early adopters,” Finn said.

Finn described these buyers as sceptical, looking for certainty, and wanting installers to “hold their hands.” His advice to installers also serves as a checklist for anyone getting quotes. A good installer should:

  • Give you some certainty about what your bills will look like afterwards (Finn suggested installers start offering guarantees).
  • Explain what your battery backup will run in a blackout, and for how long.
  • Help you choose an electricity plan that suits your battery and how you use power, before they leave.

“Don’t leave until you show them what retailer plan is going to work for them.”

Origin Executive General Manager of Retail Jon Briskin made the same point from the retailer’s side. Origin, the energy retailer that owns SolarQuotes, sponsored the night.

“The value that you get out of your battery is actually going to be delivered through your energy plan over time,” Briskin said.

As Finn put it, “If you’re just selling the system, it’s just a commodity.”

A Warning About Plug-In Batteries

Asked for one prediction about the next couple of years, Finn warned about plug-in batteries.

In September, federal and state energy ministers agreed to work towards allowing plug-in solar and batteries. These are small systems you plug into an ordinary power point. At the time of writing, you can’t legally plug them in to feed power into your home’s wiring.

Finn calls plug-in solar “a complete waste of time,” but says plug-in batteries “have their place.” He’s concerned about how they’ll be sold. Just as some sellers took advantage of government rebates, he expects some will claim plug-in systems will “decimate” your bills.

He believes reputable installers should still offer plug-in batteries, as long as they are honest with customers:

“Give people reasonable expectations of how they’re going to work, give them really good advice about how to do it safely.”

Ask What Happens After Installation Day

If you read RESINC’s recent reviews, you’ll notice customers often mention what happened after installation day.

So when you compare quotes, ask each installer:

  • Who checks my system after it’s installed, and how often?
  • Will you help me choose an electricity plan?
  • What happens if something goes wrong in year five?

The answers to these questions can tell you as much about an installer as the price.
