Professional Advice and Great Customer Service

Battery installed under house

I installed 25 solar panels about two years ago. Following the Government's offering incentives to install batteries I examined the sense installing a battery in my situation. I quickly saw the benefit, and reviewed the offerings of a number of suppliers and ultimately determined that the Smart Energies package looked the best for me.

I found their sales team and technical staff to be very professional. Whilst the original install date was delayed by about a month the reason for it were explained clearly and I were understood and accepted by me. My main contact initially and throughout the project was Conor Gilbert, his knowledge of the product offering isI very good and in particular his patience with an "oldie" like me was great.

My property has some serious slope and step issues to overcome when considering where to install the battery nevertheless, Justin the leader of the install team quickly confirmed my earlier thinking that the battery could be readily installed under the house where there is plenty of head room. The team did a great job installing the battery and integrating it with the rest of then system, The team was very neat and tidy and assured me they would not be leaving until I fully understood the battery operation and associated APP. Justin left me with his phone number indicating that I shouldn't fail to ring him if I had any concerns whatsoever.

Exceptional Service and Professionalism!

We recently had our solar system installed by Smart Energy Answers, and we couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Great service from Connor Gardiner in helping me to decide what to have & Installation was excellent

I had 8 panels on my home when I purchased 1 year ago & just wanted a battery (panels Solar edge installed in Dec2020)
I sort 3 quotes through solar quotes but 2 of those given to me did no respond!
However I had prompt & frequent exchanges with Connor & was happy to make my choice
The installation guys were fabulous, really on time, now mess at all & I am very happy, checking my app daily

I have a timber house & a narrow walkway but my battery fits well & I even ahve alittle roof over it!

I have dealt with the Taimoor Ahmed at Smart Energy Answers for a couple of my properties. Poor company to deal with

I accepted a quotation from Smart Energy Answers (SEA) on 18 August 2025. The final price was to be adjusted based on a site inspection which was to be carried afterwards with the option of cancellation if the adjusted price was too high. As I was travelling overseas it was agreed that the inspection would take place before 18 September 2025. Despite numerous phone calls and undertakings by SEA to do the inspection it did not take place. On 17 September 2025, it was agreed that they would set a time while I was away for an inspection on 13 October 2025, Despite two communications that I sent to SEA while I was away, no inspection was arranged for, or took place on 13 October 2025.

After some discussion, SEA proposed that I should send them additional photographs and they would commit to a firm price on the basis of the photographs without the need for a site inspection. I provided this, including scaled drawings and SEA responded but declined to confirm in writing that the price would be fixed. In the end, I sent an email to two of their leads, Mark Carroll and Vikram Siddiqui. I also asked verbally for the CEO, Daniel Lanzetta to be advised of the situation. In the end Vikram phoned and agreement was reached on a price and design. An installation date of 29 October was set and I was invoiced accordingly. It should be noted that the validity of my rebate expires on 1 November 2025

On 28 October, as I had received no message from SEA, I phoned them and then was told that the installation would not occur on 29 October, but on 31 October ie the day before the rebate expires. As 31 October is a day that I have committed to some urgent and important matters, and as based on SEA's previous performance it was unlikely that the installation would take place on that day I did not accept this. Accordingly, I asked SEA to confirm that they would carryout the installation on the agreed date of 29 October or return my deposit. I have not had a firm response from SEA yet. On several previous occasions, because of the non-performance of SEA, I have raised the question of the return of my deposit as I have had offers from other companies.

Be warned: When SEA does not want to talk to you, you will find that your call is not taken and goes to a Message Bank (often full). Also, when you do get a chance to talk to someone, they will often tell you that they will investigate the matter and phone back. Invariably, they do not phone back.

Of course, no installation has taken place to date

This was a temporary situation beyond our control which impacted the whole industry unfortunately.

Due to the delay in conducting the pre-installation inspection, we decided to fully absorb any additional costs that were not advised prior, as a gesture of goodwill to compensate for the rescheduling and inconvenience. Despite our efforts to move forward, and allocating you an installation slot within your rebate window, you decided to cancel a few days before the installation took place which resulted in a lose-lose situation.
A full refund was also processed for you.

We genuinely regret that our communication did not meet your expectations, this is an area we are actively working to improve across our team.

So far so good

The whole process was seamless from getting a quote to installation. Communication was very good and the 10kw system was installed as scheduled and without any issues.
I haven't received a power bill yet but the APP is indicating that the system is performing as predicted so I am curious to see the next bill.

Too busy to inspect, install or resolve issues

I chose Smart Energy Answers to install a 20kw ESY battery due to their moderate business age, competitive price and at the time good ratings.

Sadly once the deposit was paid, contact ceased and timeframes weren’t what was promised (make sure to get this in writing as I did). Timeframes advised were 2-3 weeks for inspection and max 8 weeks install. After chasing several people from different departments, I finally had an inspection about 5 weeks out.

After inspection, again nothing heard from SEA. Week 7 from deposit I followed up again - advising they advised max 8 week lead time. Again promised follow ups but wasn’t until I chased again that they were looking at installing towards the end of October (12 week lead time). Had SEA escalate this as it was a breach of their sale/contract. They came back after a few days finally scheduling in on the 9th week.

Installation team arrived within the time frame shared. They got to work and limited times without power which was beneficial whilst working from home. Assisted with some aspects including cutting another access panel in garage ceiling for cable pathway. No attempt at cleaning was made, but that only took a quick sweep and vacuum so wasn’t fussed on that.

The day after install, found the smart meter was reporting very odd values - often 1/3 of what should be - flagged this to SEA team. This has also resulted in 2-3 kw per day from grid being used even though load was below threshold of inverter (average appears to be 0.5kw per day) and a large load showing that’s not there when compared to Energy Australia and Sungrow.

Case was logged 2 weeks ago, have followed up and have been advised “ Our schedule is fully booked at the moment, but we are doing our best to secure a date…”.

Still waiting on SEA to resolve the issue. I do not recommend purchasing from SEA as it is clear they are over booked and do not have time to resolve issues with their installations.

Fantastic experience, stress free and trustworthy

I had a fantastic experience with Smart Energy Answers, from start to finish. The whole process — booking, site inspection, installation, and aftercare — was smooth and professional. Communication was clear at every step, and the team always kept me informed, which gave me a lot of confidence throughout the journey.

The installation itself was completed on time with great attention to detail, and the quality of work was excellent. When I later faced an issue with my battery, SEA’s responsiveness really stood out. They immediately raised a ticket with the manufacturer and made sure I was kept fully updated with phone calls along the way. As soon as the manufacturer provided the replacement, SEA acted quickly to resolve the issue and had everything back on track without delay.

A well priced and timely install, but chaotic customer service and incomplete installation

The sales process was very smooth with a great explanation of all the options and their quote was several thousand less than the second quote I received.

However, after I paid the deposit the communication was all down hill. You move from talking to their slick and knowledgeable sales team to their lack luster operations team. I had to email SEA several times to organise an installation date and when I finally got one it was moved around several times in the week before.

Our installation was complex - adding full home back up via the Sigenergy Gateway in our townhouse garage involved a double looping of wires ~10m to the main complex switchboard and wiring in our existing solar panels while decommissioning the existing inverter. This took a team of 4 a whole day to complete which is clearly more than they had budgeted for.

In the process of installation they managed to cut our NBN HFC wire which then required an NBN call out to fix leaving us without internet for 4 days. Accidents happen.

The main issue with the installation is that they never installed the required fire alarm when installing in a garage - even after following up with them several times post installation. Given this is a safety requirement I believe this is inexcusable.

Refuse to resolve issues

Not working correctly and feeding electricity into the grid rather than using it in the house.

Fantastic experience - really great installer

This company did a terrific job installing my new batteries. The sales process was straightforward and a good price. The installation was done by a team of 4 guys, all of them very polite and they did a really tidy job. They turned up on time and it took as long as they said it would. They also replaced a broken tile. They helped me set up the app and made sure it was all connected to the grid and working properly before they left. Couldn’t be happier with this company. They even contacted me to check I was happy afterwards.

The type of experience every person wants

There was no hard sales approach where you know within 5 mins into the conversation the person is only out to make a dollar!

Right from the start Smart Energy Answers reps were interested in listening, offer solutions and advice to custom a battery install to my needs. installation process was efficient, professional, put up with “ this guys” constant questions patiently and completed everything to a high quality finish.

Definitely will continue an association with SMA for future upgrades and works.

NOT to be confused with Smart Energy who I cannot rate at all.

Super clean install

Smart Energy Answers, from the initial quote to the install have been a pleasure to deal with.
From providing the quote within a short period of time to advising of all the stages as they occurred and providing
the documentation required for Strata the process was relatively simple. The install occurred in a single day with the team working extremely hard making for a very long day for them, with everything being finished just after the sun went down. They asked about my preferences for conduit placing, battery placement so that things would look very neat and tidy. Hilariously the day after the install it started raingin for the next 2 weeks so it took a while before I could find out how good the solar panels were. Once the sun finally came out, magic, the panels seem to be extremely efficient even though it is late winter. There was a slight issue with the PW3 battery shutting down on the first really sunny day, but after the issue being reported they took care of everything, informing Tesla who had a reasonably fast turnaround time with new FW being loaded onto the system and no issues since. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants solar panels and battery. Very impressed.

Fast and efficient.

I found the sales team engaging and professional, willing and able to answer all my queries. The pre-install inspection was very helpful to identify the best location. The installation team contacted me the day before and arranged to deliver the battery prior to installation. On the day they turned up on time and installed the battery efficiently and quickly in the rain.

Disappointing Experience

A disappointing experience with my battery purchase. Changed the quote price mid installation. Failed to get the battery to work on the day. The only time I heard from them over the new few weeks was their accounts department chasing payment (for a battery that didn't work). Took them a month to come back and get the battery working.

Smart Energy Answers get an A.

SEA’s quote and sales team were excellent, providing full details of the process and no surprise costs at the other end of the process.
The installers were polite, efficient and cleaned up well. They were over an hour late arriving which was a bit of a pain for me as I had to go to night shift. Other than that they were excellent. They explained the connection and ensured the app was installed properly on my phone. Very happy and would gladly recommend to anyone.

Outstanding Organisation

I was fortunate to receive a quotation for SEA. Their proposal and professional swayed me in selecting them for the installation of a Powerwall 3. Their price was not the cheapest, however it transpired that I was right in selecting SEA. They met every deadline that they had committed to, despite this being an incredibly tough month (July 2025). Their installers did a very good job and provided additional advice on the day of installation, regarding the positioning of the battery.
I now have room for an additional Powerwall Expansion if this is needed at a later stage.
I have no hesitation in recommending SEA

Quick quotes and fast installation

After reviewing the information on the web site on a Wednesday, I arranged to get 2 companies to quote. One responded immediately and the other the next day. By the end of Friday the sales staff had visited, and I received my quotes over the weekend. That is a very fast quoting process!

We made our choice and the system was professionally installed in half a day about a month later. The whole process was painless and has been working well for about a month so far.

10 months later we asked Marco: "Are you happy with the performance of your system so far?"

The system has performed better than my expectations and my power bills have been $0 during this time (we are about $650 in credit, actually) and that is after switching my gas hot water to a heat pump arrangement. The system payback should be considerably faster than originally planned.

Great all round performance

Smart Energy Answers connect a 25kwh battery to our existing solar panels. The whole process was excellent from the initial consultation to the final installation by a partner company. The options were clearly presented and the final option we selected was competitively priced. Initially, there was an issue with the distribution of solar power to the grid in preference to the battery, but this was quickly resolved by a remotely installed software upgrade.

Smart Energy Answers are a professional company using quality products and I am happy to recommend it to anyone looking to instal a solar battery.

Terrible customer service

Sales process was good and they shared lots of information, but it went downhill quickly from when I paid a deposit.

Site visit was rescheduled on the day, then when they did come they tried to add 2 more items to my bill for things I'd already checked with the sales person were included. I had to negotiate down again.

Installation was rescheduled the day before, then not completed within a day (due to weather, fair enough). But they never followed up to schedule the second half and I had to chase yet again.

About a week after install my power goes out, so call support and they file an "urgent" ticket. I call again 3 hours later and nobody has even looked at the ticket Another hour later and a few phone calls later they finally get the installer to call me and we can sort it out. Frustratingly if the shutdown and restart procedure instructions they'd given me were correct I would have been able to solve it myself. I'm still chasing support to give me correct instructions weeks later.

No guidance was given on when I'd be connected to the grid for exports so I'm just waiting...

Friendly and professional installer, great system

Sales process was straightforward with questions answered promptly and changes I requested for the system capacity were amended promptly and without fuss. This included an amendment to the green loan which was handled well without issue.
Installation required a full replacement of the main switchboard. The installer took the opportunity to tidy up a very old board with a modern switchboard and did this at very reasonable cost despite it taking longer than anticipated.
Connection to Amber has been very straightforward and I’m seeing the results already.
Customer service post install has been very good with follow up calls from them to check everything is working as expected.

Good Advice

SEA were interested in my specific design requirements, and provided good advice on system design. The price was very competitive.

Installation went well, although there was some miscommunication on a variation to the price (due to a long cable run between the battery and switchboard) which led to last minute haggling on price (while the installation was underway).

The final presentation of the panels which faced the road was excellent.

Initially the battery app which provides info on demand/supply was very flaky which led to some long periods where the app was not working (longest period was 6 weeks). Responses from SME to solve the problem was often very slow (initial email/phone call responses were very prompt, but it often took a week to a fortnight to get technical support). A new version of the app has worked well for the last 6 weeks, and there have been no drop outs.

Great installation and outcome

We had a 20kw solar system and 24kwh battery installed through Smart Energy Answers (SEA) by one of their partner companies in Canberra, Summit and Shore Energy.
We are really happy with the system, the installation process was smooth on the day, installers were polite, left everything tidy, and explained everything to us. The system is working as intended.
The customer service was good too; admin staff at SEA are friendly and punctual with responses.
Noting that we understand it is a busy time with the battery rebate and there were some rain delays, there were some things that weren't as smooth as expected, including mixed messaging we received around installation date (different messaging from SEA directly and installer multiple times), our site inspection prior to installation was undertaken by one of SEA's other company partners who didn't end up installing for us, and we requested ethernet connection to the battery/inverter instead of wifi which hasn't been connected yet (although SEA were quick to raise a job to complete this afterwards when we notified them).
It was appreciated that they could do the install on a Sunday for us to make sure the job was done on time.
Overall we are very happy with the outcome and would recommend Smart Energy Answers and their partner companies.

Estimate vs Firm Quote

They wouldn’t come to site to check if the inverter was wired in 240VAC cabling to the fuse box. They gave me what they called a quote and I called an estimate which included a new 240VAC cable from the inverter even as I told them they didn’t need to . Ultimately they did send someone to site to check and the 240VAC cable was as I told them and they dropped the price by $500.

Very professional all round service

The sales and quoting process was superior to all others as it was based on a site inspection. The installation process was excellent. Some unforeseen problems were encountered along the way as to where to site the battery but the installer went above and beyond expectations to find a very satisfactory solution. Also, very mindful of our need for council approval given we are in a heritage overlay area. Hand off could have been a bit more thorough but this was more than offset by excellent after sales service.

All in all, a very good job.

An excellent outcome

Existing 9.6kW PV system with Fronius Symo 8.2-3-M

I found the team to be knowledgeable, responsive, offered competitive pricing, and delivered an excellent solution for my use case (3-phase home with existing PV solution). Communications could sometimes have been a little better (e.g. communicating the final design, the process for the NSW government PDRS battery incentive) but everything came together in the end. Very happy with the solution (currently 2 months since installation).

Fantastic service, Great communication

The sales process was very consultative with clear communication on viable options. The link between sales consultant, designers and installation was very smooth.

Fantastic inhaler and service

Very good quality company with a site inspection to ensure all factors taken into account. Flexible approach to negotiation on price and the guys installing were very professional. My roof access was challenging and the weather was bad but there was no complaints and they got on with the job.
