GoodWe Reaches 1GW Of Inverter Shipments To Australia

GoodWe solar inverter shipments - Australia

After 9 years in the Australian market, Chinese solar inverter manufacturer GoodWe is celebrating 1,000MW of capacity supplied to Australia.

Globally, the company has shipped  more than two million inverters for a total of 23 GW capacity since it commenced manufacturing around a decade ago. Its products have proved pretty popular in Australia, with GoodWe inverter reviews submitted by Australian customers here on SolarQuotes generally being positive. The company has scored a 4.6/5 rating overall and 4.8 over the last 12 months.

GoodWe is currently listed on SQ’s trusted brands chart at the budget end of the chart. In the recent SolarQuotes Installers Choice Awards 2021, it achieved equal third place in the best budget inverters category.

Commenting on the Australian 1GW milestone, Dean Williamson, Country Manager of GoodWe, said:

“without the support of our partners, specifically our distributors and installers, we would not have been able to achieve this remarkable milestone. Many of our customers have been with us since our early days and have witnessed our evolution to the company we are today. We would like to use this opportunity to express our gratitude and thank them for their support.”

Another Chinese solar inverter manufacturer to recently cross the 1GW capacity shipped line in Australia was Sungrow in December last year.

While generally considered to cater to the budget end of the market, last year GE chose GoodWe  to produce a range of GE-branded devices that will be targeting the high end.

GoodWe Giving Back

The company was recently part of a collaboration that supplied and installed a 10kW solar power system for a branch of Western Australia’s largest animal rescue organisation, Saving Animals From Euthanasia Inc. (SAFE). GoodWe donated a GW10KT-DT three-phase solar inverter for the installation.

Continuing its “year of giving back”, GoodWe is now inviting solar installers to nominate a frontline healthcare worker to receive a care package –  100 care packages will be given to 100 different nominated individuals.

“The organisation views frontline healthcare workers as heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic and want to demonstrate their gratitude for their efforts.”

What GoodWe didn’t mention is what is in the care package – but assuming it isn’t rocks, it’s a nice gesture.

Choosing An Inverter

Solar panels tend to be the focus of attention when buying solar, but it needs to be kept in mind the inverter is the real workhorse of the system. All the output of the panels runs through this device, which often operates in harsh conditions.

As it’s the component most likely to fail first in a system, it really pays to choose a well-known brand with a good warranty. On that note, GoodWe announced early this year it had boosted its manufacturer warranty in Australia to 10 years. Importantly, the company also has an office in Australia for servicing warranty claims.

But whether a GoodWe solar inverter is the best choice for you depends on various factors (including budget). Pick up some tips on choosing a solar inverter – you can also compare products available in Australia from a bunch of manufacturers using SolarQuotes’ solar inverter comparison table.
