From humble beginnings in 1995 as a one-man plumbing business in Western Australia, Solargain was founded in 2005 as a family-owned company. Initially focusing on solar hot water systems, the firm expanded into solar PV in 2008

Professional

I am totally impressed with the whole team, from Patrick who took the time to investigate initial problem to providing some solutions, to Brenton who did the install and followed up on queries to Amelia and the team who took care of the invoicing and payments
So much so I’ve now put all of the solar and battery under their care and feel much happier knowing it’s being taken care of and importantly everything g works, talks to each other and delivering what is needed.

Excellent Customer Service

We first used Solargain some years ago to replace an already installed inverter and add solar panels. So when we decided to upgrade and replace this time we immediately contacted Solargain again.
We had exceptional customer service and information provided. The installation was great, the technicians were friendly and helpful and did a great job.
Very professional and we are extremely happy, so much so that we have ordered a new battery system to be installed

Very happy with Solargain and Franklin Batteries

We were guided by Tony Flint who works for Franklin batteries to engage SolarGain. They have been brilliant to deal with and installation of our new solar panels and x 2 Franklin Batteries has been impressive very timely once the quote had been obtained.The tradesman are very knowlegable and tidy they removed our old system as well. Very accomodating to our needs.
Cannot thank Tony enough for his knowledge of how obtain the best renewable outcome, products and of our Franklin battery's inverter and panels for our home. His knowledge is more than sales its pratical and ensures you stay away from products that will not suits your needs. We are more than happy!!
We also obtained four previous quotes and attended a renewable exhibition to really understand our purchase.

Terrible installation with unsupervised sub contractor

I went with Solargain because of their 20-year reputation, but the reality was a nightmare. They are just a Perth company using subbies to do their work unsupervised - avoid at all costs.

They sold me a 10kW system, only for me to find out after it was bolted to my house that it was throttled to 5kW. That’s a massive drop in performance that wasn't explained to me upfront.

To make things worse, the installation was a disaster. The sealants on my roof were a mess - I'm talking bird feathers and debris mixed in (see photos) - which led to water leaking into my house and damaging the ceiling. Then they sent the same unsupervised subbie back to 'fix the job' who lied to me about how he had conducted the work and had actually just gooped shitloads of silicone over the top of the dek tites, Solargain then went into bat that it had been repaired.

It felt like an unsupervised crew just rushed the job, no safe systems of work, no fall protection, very poor quality workmanship resulting in property damage.

It took months of back-and-forth and a lot of stress to get any acknowledgment. We’ve finally settled things commercially so I can hire a local solar installer to fix their mess and get the power output up to 10kw, but I’d never use them again.

If you’re looking at solar go with a local provider who installs it themselves, make sure they are not using a sub contractor and check the system and the roof penetrations before you pay them.

Expensive Dud Inverter

Bought an entire system form them that included 16 panels and what I was told was a top of the line inverter by an Italian company Aurora which they upsold, me on due to quality and longevity, it cost $8k for the inverter alone. It died three mont5hs out of warranty with an error message that Solargain said it was irreparable. Aurora no longer existed and the device could not be serviced. They could not help em any further. Would I like a a quotation on a new inverter? Total crap.Solarpain more like.

Cost savings

The quoting process was thorough and detailed. We were looking for value for money rather than just the cheapest. The installation went smoothly and all the questions I had were answered satisfactorily. When the installation was completed l was given an easy to understand explanation of the system and how it operated.

Peace of mind from passionate professionals

After extensive research and multiple quotes we were very pleased that we chose SolarGain. SolarQuotes was also a fantastic resource, supplemented by other reference sources. Their price was competitive without being the cheapest on paper. We wanted certainty of quality and support which we have received in spades. The installer was the best trade we have had through all our renovations, very passionate and professional, and friendly. Communications through the process was excellent and clear as was supporting information.
When we ran into web reporting issues due to some power interruptions, the SolarGain support people were excellent with their prompt reply (thanks Jackie) and clear instructions on how to get the network reconnected. It was also great to know they could remotely monitor and see the system.
The performance of the arrays and the inverter have been fantastic.
My wife and I are detailed people and don’t give praise easily so SolarGain have done well, thanks.

Sound and reliable

Used Solargain guys for our original solar system about 10 years ago. Good advice, not pushy, prompt delivery and installation. Got panels, 3 phase, car charger & batteries. Big job handled very well.

From your recommendations: Had issues with Solahart hot water so would never trust them to do a solar system. First choice was far too expensive. They also added back future savings to the purchase price - a bit deceptive IMHO.

Inadequate post sales support, supplier wont warranty parts

The vendor is refusing to replace a failed part in a newly installed system less than 3 months old, claiming it was damaged by conditions not covered by warranty, and now I have to dispute this with consumer protection. The vendor's own spec sheet and warranty clearly show that the operating conditions never exceeded tolerances.

A voltage sag event occured which dropped the grid power to 150v for several sessions, lasting a few minutes, and affecting 100+ western power customers.

The vendor is now claiming that a power surge damaged the part, when there is no evidence of a power surge, IE an event exceeding ~240v, having occurred.

The spec sheet provided by the vendor clearly shows that the oeprating voltage of the part is ~76v to ~288v.

It took multiple calls, all of which were answered by people who couldn't or wouldn't give more information or even an ETA, because the supervisor to whom the complaint was excalated was on holidays. When the supervisor returned, they refused to replace the part at their cost under warranty.

Because of this, I began a complaint with consumer protection, with LGIRS and I've made a fraud report with the clean energy regulator that issues certificates and reported the failed part to clean energy council which certifies parts.

I would strongly caution anybody against using Solargain as their solar power system installer, because their after sales service and warranty claim department will straight up lie to customers about the cause of failed parts and why they aren't warrantable, despite Australian consumer law being quite clear on the subject.

Took a while to understand the full nature of the install and the pros and cons of our choice.

I was confused about the system needed and the pros and cons. Went with battery ready system as payoff with current battery prices not good. Sales guy was patient and forthcoming. Booking didn’t align with sales promise but install date was ok.
Two guys for install who turned up ready and at the time promised. One focused on the electrical connections as was very courteous and professional. The other younger guy did the panels install. He was friendly but lied to me at least twice.
System working without problem so far but has never yet generated a full 5kw per the app on my phone. I got a battery ready 6.6kw system.

My Battery

I was very happy with the person doing the quote , who was my contact person throughout. The guys that did the job were excellent and very willing to answer any questions I had. My only problem was the lady who was supposed to help me with the app on my phone never responded to my calls.
Orherwise everything was excellent.

Worst Aftersales Support Ever

I had existing solar and went all out to fully electrify the house so i got Solargain to install a battery, hot water service and ev charger. Things started well, even the install was pretty smooth - then the wheels fell off. Zero support to rectify issues with the system. The hot water system doesn't communicate with their app - even though their website says it does. The system wasn't properly installed so no DLR function for the EV charger. The app also claims to show real time data - but it doesn't come even close - you have to force the app closed and relaunch it to get updated data. They don't respond and are just fobbing us off with excuses. They also wont remove the zero export limit, despite us having an agreement for export in place with the network operator. In a nutshell, the system isn't whats advertised or what was sold. Solargain, once they have your money are difficult to deal with and I do not recommend them. Solargain shoild be avoided.

Fantastic installer and service

Got a 5 kW solar system about four years ago from Solargain. The knowledge and experience with well was second to none and ended up recommending our friends and neighbours.

Then even now four years later, they are still fantastic to deal with in service when I need my password reset for my inverter. 10 out of 10.

Solargain Wins

Staff were very polite helpful and explained everything in an easy to understand way. Price was higher than others for the same system, but they had better reviews, and quote was easy to understand and informative, unlike some others that quoted. Has not yet been installed.

One of the Jinko panel was generating 15% less electricity.
I contacted Jinko and Alif who answered my call organised a replacement, delivering the panel to my address and installing by Cowlec Electrics. Shan and his team arrived within few days.
I would recomand Jinko not only for panels but for it's helpful team.

Excellence at its best.

Solargain:
This is now our second house with solar fitted via Solargain & it wasn't a hard decision going back to them.
From first contact then Jason's prompt & very reasonable quote everything was set in motion. Communication along the way was excellent & 6weeks later on the day the guys turned up on time. Our entire 7.9kw system was up & running by late afternoon, the area left clean & tidy, the guys did a first class professional job.

Solargain install

Solargain has provided me quality install and solid advice on this occasion, and on previous installs I have had in the past on other properties. They take the time to consider your situation and have the ability to tune their recomended system to suit your needs and desires. Install was very professional. After sales service has be excellent - they were consistent in followup to sort out a small issue re-estabilishing my remote monitoring after we had rented the property out for a few years ans moved back in.
