Although new to the Aussie market (launched in 2024), Sigenergy has made a big impact in a short space of time. 

Their app is the only solar/battery/home energy monitor that is as good as Tesla's. Their commissioning takes minutes. The backup, including 3-phase, is seamless.

Installers really like the hardware and their Aussie support is prompt. However their single-phase 8/10/12kW inverters suffered a spate of overheating issues in 2025 which prompted an ACCC recall. All those affected will receive a free replacement controller unit with an updated AC plug.

If you have a warranty issue or concerns about the safety of your Sigenergy battery, you should first contact your installer. But if they're no longer around, you can contact Sigenergy directly.

Founded in early 2022 by ex-Huawei solar division president Tony Xu, Sigenergy hit the ground running and just three years on has more than 600+ employees; the vast majority of which are focused on research and development. 

The 2025 Sigenergy Recall

The controller units on Sigenergy Sigenstore batteries contain a hybrid inverter. In late 2025 it became apparent that some single-phase Sigenergy controller units on Sigenstor batteries had suffered from dangerous overheating and, in one case, caused a fire. These issues are described here

This resulted in a recall of Sigenergy's 8, 10, and 12kW controller units. Details of the recall can be found here, and the official recall notice is here.

Sigenergy promised to honour its obligations under Australian consumer law and replace the controller units free of charge. They will also provide an extra 2 years warranty on the controller unit.

If you believe you have one of the recalled units and have not been contacted by Sigenergy or your installer about the recall, you should contact your installer. If they're no longer around, contact Sigenergy directly. 

Sigenergy controller units no longer have the plug involved with the overheating issues, so no Sigenergy product installed now will suffer from this specific problem. 

Sigen Hybrid Inverters

Sigen hybrid inverters can be used in conjunction with a solar power system only, or with solar panels and the SigenStor battery and charger modules. But note that if you add SigenStor energy storage after the inverter module has been installed, you'll need to purchase and activate a licence.

The company's inverters offer up to 4 MPP (Maximum Power Point) trackers, 97.6% conversion efficiency and DC/AC ratio of up to 2. Communications are via WLAN, Ethernet or 4G. 

Sigen inverters are built for tough conditions, with an IP66 rating providing very high resistance to dust, humidity and rain. The inverters have an operating temperature range of -30C ~ 60C. In a country such as Australia, that sort of robustness is a real plus.  

Sigen hybrid inverters are available in Australia in single-phase and three-phase models. Among the single-phase offerings, which measure 700 x 300 x 283 mm and weigh 36 kg, are the:

  • 8.0 SP AU: 8.0 kW
  • 10.0 SP AU: 10.0 kW
  • 12.0 SP AU: 12.0 kW

All of these are on the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list: a must-have if you want to claim Australia's solar rebate, some state incentives and to get permission to have the system connect to the grid. Other capacities (greater and less than the above) are CEC-approved when installed as part of a full Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

CEC-approved 3-phase models (5kW, 10kW, 15kW, and 25kW) are also available here when installed as part of a BESS. 

Sigen PV Max

Additionally, CEC-approved non-hybrid single-phase models called "PV Max" in capacities from 3kW to 6kW can be purchased in Australia as well. The PV Max inverters in this range have 2 MPPTs, up to 98% conversion efficiency and an IP66 ingress rating. Sigenergy produces other single-phase units (up to 12kW) and three-phase PV Max inverters (up to 25kW), but as at the time of updating this page, they weren't CEC listed.

Inverter Monitoring

Real-time monitoring is available via the comprehensive mySigen App, which is powered by AI (GPT-4). This could be very attractive to some and a little off-putting to others. According to the company, the AI smarts can help achieve maximum energy bill savings by automatically accessing system operation, dynamic tariffs, and weather data. Owners can instruct the app using a chat feature and also submit support tickets if they encounter issues during system operation directly from within the app. 

Sigen Inverter Warranty

Sigenergy Technology Co., Ltd. warrants that their hybrid inverters will be free of defects caused by improper workmanship or defective materials for a period of 10 years.

Powerful and flexible, Sigenergy is the best system on the market, in my opinion. I like how a lot of the smarts are actually in the gatweway, a separate unit. The cutover of <1ms when grid power goes down is unsurpassed and prevents sensitive equipment from being interrupted. Not that I will be buying power from the grid very much :)

NG recommended a 20kW inverter, which is perfect for my installation because it allows 15kW export with 5kW spare to run the house at the same time. I was surprised that my unit had a fan, as I was expecting the cooling to be passive after watching some Sig installer videos. However, I now see that's only the lower power and/or single phase units; mine is 3-phase. I'm actually happy that it has a fan, because that should ensure it copes well with Australian summers. The noise level is fine and similar to my old Fronius 5kW system, and being installed in the garage, noise doesn't matter.

The side LED operating as a charge level gauge is a super cool feature, and the colour (green=charging, blue=discharging), show me what's happening with the unit at a glance.

People rave about the app and now I see why. It's very comprehensive and was super quick to commission. I have found it does everything I need, and I haven’t even looked into Home Assistant integration yet.

The 10kW 3 phase inverter with the Gateway for backup power is performing exactly as expected.
The Sigenergy app is very good, giving complete information on the sources of power ( solar, battery, mains) and how they have been used, It also allows control of how the solar power is used, i.e. house, EV and battery.

The invertor and battery system combines into what appears as a single low-profile system. The fact is if we ever decide to go fully off grid we can still add another battery unit without changing the look and floor space dimensions.
Sigenergy provide a great App to both monitor and customise how you want to run the system. You can design how the equipment operates or it even allows AI to monitor and customise its operation to maximise its value to you.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide feedback on my experience with the Sigenergy system.

When our Sigenergy solar and battery system was installed in September, we were genuinely impressed. The system looked fantastic, the app was easy to use, and when it was operating correctly, it performed very well. We were excited about the investment we had made.

Unfortunately, our positive experience was very short-lived.

To the best of my recollection, the system only operated at full performance for approximately September and October. After that, a recall was issued relating to the inverter. My understanding is that the inverter’s performance was reduced while waiting for a replacement, meaning we were unable to get the full benefit of the solar system we had purchased.

After waiting until 22 July for the replacement inverter to finally be installed, we expected everything to be back to normal. Instead, the replacement inverter could not be commissioned. Despite multiple attempts by both the installer and Sigenergy Australia, including troubleshooting and remote support, the system has still not been made operational.

At the time of writing, our entire solar and battery system is offline. We are running solely on grid electricity, the battery cannot be used, the solar panels are not producing power for our home, and the app is not functioning.

What has disappointed me most is not simply that technical problems have occurred, these things can happen but the lack of communication and the length of time it has taken to resolve the issue. Months passed with little information, and even after finally receiving a replacement inverter, we have been left with a system that doesn’t work at all.

It’s a real shame because I genuinely believe the Sigenergy system is an impressive product when it is operating correctly. It looks great, has excellent features, and the technology appears very well designed. However, my experience with the recall process, communication, and after-sales support has unfortunately overshadowed what should have been an exciting investment.

I sincerely hope this matter is resolved quickly, both for our family and for other Sigenergy customers experiencing similar issues.
